Thermally poled silica samples are structurally heterogeneous: Electron diffraction evidence of partial crystallization

چکیده
Large structural modifications in v-SiO2 are found to be induced by ‘‘thermal poling,’’ a treatment which makes the glass act as a frequency doubler of an impinging infrared light. The electron diffraction patterns of poled silica plates reveal the presence of a large amount ~of order 10%! of crystallites showing patterns consistent with partial crystallization of the glassy matrix into the cristobalite polymorph of silica. © 2001 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1359776#

Humidity effect on the decay of second-order nonlinearity in thermally poled fused silica.
Type I (GE124) and Type II (KV) fused silica were thermally poled in a vacuum and in air under identical poling conditions. Second-order nonlinear (SON) strength and nonlinear depth were found all to be the same. Samples were then stored in high and low humidity to study their SON stability. The SON of poled GE124 was stable over time despite different poling atmospheres and humidity in storage...
متن کاملInvestigation of the Use of Various Silica Source on NaX Zeolite Properties
Silicon and aluminum sources are most important reactants in the synthesis of zeolite. The use of the silicon source has an important effect on the crystallization of zeolites. Also, it can change the properties of the end product. This work reports the influence of three common commercial silica sources such as colloidal silica (Ludox AM-30), fumed silica and water glass on the crystallinity o...
متن کاملCharacterization of thermally poled germanosilicate thin films.
We report measurements of the nonlinearity profile of thermally poled low-loss germanosilicate films deposited on fused-silica substrates by PECVD, of interest as potential electro-optic devices. The profiles of films grown and poled under various conditions all exhibit a sharp peak ~0.5 microm beneath the anode surface, followed by a weaker pedestal of approximately constant amplitude down to ...
متن کاملElectric surface potential and frozen-in field measurements in thermally poled silica
Surface potential (SP) as well as nonlinear optical coefficients in thermally poled silica were measured and compared. It was found that the SP is directly related to the frozen-in voltage across the depletion layer. ©2007 Optical Society of America OCIS codes: 160.0160 Materials; 190.0190 Nonlinear optics

In this research, thin films of Zr/ZrO2 composites were deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering technique on Si and fused Silica substrates, and their structures were investigated by XRD method. During the deposition of the cermet layers, a Zr metallic target was sputtered in a gas mixture of Ar and O2. By controlling of O2 flow rate, the different metal volume fractions in the cermet layer...
