came on suddenly and gradually increased and assumed its present size, and was attended with excruciating pain extending down to the toes. On admission, a pulsating tumour, about the size of a duck's egg, was found occupying Scarpa's Triangle of the right thigh, extending upwards as far as Poupart's ligament. The whole tumour pulsated distinctly, with marked aneurismal thrill and bruit. The patient could not straighten the limb, but always kept it in a semiflexed position. He complained of extreme pain in the thigh and leg. The health of the patient was not at all good ; countenance sallow and anaamic, and he had been much distressed by pain and want of sleep ; appetite dull and bowels costive ; heart's action abnormal, there was extensive valvular disease of the heart, a loud double aortic bruit was audible at the base, and the arterial system generally seemed to be diseased, the arteries of the
