Reasoning in Non-Axiomatic Logic: A Case Study in Medical Diagnosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Non-Axiomatic Logic (NAL) is designed for intelligent reasoning, and can be used in a system that has insufficient knowledge and resources with respect to the problems to be solved. This paper reports the result of a case study that applies NAL in medical diagnostics, and the logic is compared with binary logic and probability theory.

Nonmonotonic Skeptical Consequence Relation in Constrained Default Logic
This paper presents a study of the nonmonotonic consequence relation which models the skeptical reasoning formalised by constrained default logic. The nonmonotonic skeptical consequence relation is defined using the sequent calculus axiomatic system. We study the formal properties desirable for a “good” nonmonotonic relation: supraclassicality, cut, cautious monotony, cumulativity, absorption, ...
متن کاملAxiomatization of Credulous Reasoning in Rational Default Logic
Nonmonotonic reasoning is succesfully formalized by the class of default logics. In this paper we introduce an axiomatic system for credulous reasoning in rational default logic. Based on classical sequent calculus and anti-sequent calculus, an abstract characterization of credulous nonmonotonic default inference in this variant of default logic is presented.
متن کاملA Logic with Big-stepped Probabilities That Can Model Nonmonotonic Reasoning of System P
We develop a sound and strongly complete axiomatic system for probabilistic logic in which we can model nonmonotonic (or default) reasoning. We discuss the connection between previously developed logics and the two sublogics of the logic presented here.

متن کاملCase-based systems in health sciences - a case study in the field of stress management
Now-a-days medical domain is a popular area for the artificial intelligence (AI) research. Many of the early AI systems were attempted to apply rule-based reasoning in developing computer-based diagnosis system in medical domain. However, for a broad and complex medical domain the effort of applying rule-based system has encountered several problems. Today many systems are serving multi-purpose...
