Catalytic Combustion in Microchannel for MEMS Power Generation

Catalytic combustion is a promising technique for producing thermal energy in MEMS(Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) scale electrical power generators. To examine the feasibility and possible benefits of catalytic combustion in MEMS-scale channels, catalytic reactions in small diameter (1 mm) flow reactor tubes at low Reynolds numbers are simulated by using the commercial fluid dynamics code FL...

Steam reforming of propane over Ni-K/CeO2-Al2O3 catalyst in fluidized- and fixed-bed reactors under low steam to propane ratio

Fluidized bed was employed to investigate propane steam reforming over Ni-K/CeO2-Al2O3 catalyst. The catalyst was characterized by XRD, SEM, TG/DTA, and N2 adsorption-desorption tests. Effects of promoters, space velocity, temperature, and steam/propane (S/C) ratio on propane conversion, H2 yield, H2/CO ratio, and stability were studied and discussed. The experiments were carried out under cond...

Pt and Pd supported on glass fibers as effective combustion catalysts

Pd and Pt supported on glass fiber materials with developed porosity and high specific surface areas were studied in total propane oxidation. The reaction was carried out in recycling reactor and the kinetic parameters were determined under different reaction conditions in the temperature range 200–500◦C. Pt catalysts were seen to be more active than Pd for the same metal loading on identical s...

An Experimental Study of the Effects of Platinum on Methane/Air and Propane/Air Mixtures in a Stagnation Point Flow Reactor

A stagnation-flow burner facility was used to study the catalytic surface reactions of premixed combustion systems at atmospheric pressure. The configuration serves as an important platform to investigate the interaction between homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions with independent control of the characteristic chemical and physical residence time scales. Methane/oxygen/nitrogen and propane/...

Reactor with Separate Feed of R E a C T a N T S - - I . Operation in Absence of T

-A pilot plant study on propane catalytic combustion in a membrane reactor with separate reactant feeds is presented. The membrane consisted of a porous alumina tube activated by insertion into its pores of a Pt/7-A1203 catalyst. The role of reactants concentration and of the feed flow rates were studied in the transport-controlled operating regime, where a number of interesting properties of t...
