چکیده

This paper presents a novel approach to unit testing of software components. This approach uses the specification language ADL, that is particularly well-suited for testing, to formally document the intended behavior of software components. Another related language, TDD, is used to systematically describe the test-data on which the software components will be tested. This paper gives a detailed overview of the ADL language, and a brief presentation of the TDD language. Some details of the actual test system are also presented, along with some significant results. email addresses: [email protected] [email protected] A Sun Microsystems, Inc. Analyzing Software Architecture Based on Statechart Semantics

High assurance architecture-based and component-based software development relies fundamentally on the quality of the components of which a system is composed and their configuration. Analysis over those components and their integration as a system plays a key role in the software development process. This paper describes an approach to develop and assess architecture and component-based system...

Evaluation and Comparison of ADL Based Approaches for the Description of Dynamic of Software Architectures

This paper presents an evaluation study of Architecture Description Languages (ADL) which allows to compare the expressive power of these languages for specifying the dynamicity of software architectures. Our investigation enabled us to release two categories of ADLs: configuration languages and description languages. Here, we address both categories, and we focus on two aspects: the behaviour ...

Constructing Active Architectures in the ArchWare ADL

Software that cannot change is condemned to atrophy: it cannot accommodate the constant revision and renegotiation of its business goals nor intercept the potential of new technology. To accommodate change in such systems we have defined an active software architecture to be: dynamic in that the structure and cardinality of the components and interactions are not statically known; updatable in ...

Architecture-Based Conformance Testing

In the last two decades, software architecture has played a central role in the development of software systems. It provides a high-level description for large-size and complex systems using suitable abstractions of the system’s components and their interactions. In our work, the software architecture is described using a formal Architecture Description Language (ADL) designed in the ArchWare E...

Towards a Design-by-contract based Approach for Realizable Connector-centric Software Architectures

Despite being a widely-used language for specifying software systems, UML remains less than ideal for software architectures. Architecture description languages (ADLs) were developed to provide more comprehensive support. However, so far the application of ADLs in practice has been impeded by at least one of the following problems: (i) advanced formal notations, (ii) lack of support for complex...
