چکیده
The union of the three branches of the Indian Medical Service, Bengal, Bombay and Madras under one Director-General, which has just taken place almost exactly coincides with attacks on the efficiency of the service as a whole, and with doubts expressed as to the friendliness of the two divisions of the service, the Civil and the Military. These facts seem to point to the necessity for members of the service coming closer together in order to be in a position to refute the charges thus brought against them, and to remove any unfriendly feeling between the Civil and Military branches, if such can be proved to exist. Separated as the members of the Indian Service are from one another, especially the Civil members, and from chances of obtaining information as to the feelings and wishes of other members, it is impossible to give the lie to adverse criticism.
