A Prioritized Resource Reservation Scheme with QoS-Violation Assessment

چکیده
Multimedia applications such as video conferencing, multimedia news and distance learning require stringent quality of service (QoS) that the current Internet cannot provide. Specifications of differentiated services (DiffServ) were proposed with the hope that the services of legacy Internet and third generation (3G) networks present opportunities to offer end-to-end QoS guaranteed multimedia applications and services. In this paper we propose a prioritized resource reservation scheme for real-time applications. This scheme has the capability of QoS-violation assessment for interactive best-effort users. The probability of resource starvation is predicted by analyzing the traffic behavior of call requests. Such a scheme allows for providing Internet services to end users over DiffServ, and regulates network utilization by means of the prediction of resource starvation to avoid QoS violation.

Call Admission Control Jointly with Resource Reservation in Cellular Wireless Networks
To efficiently utilize the total resources and to serve mobile users demanding for different types of service, system resource utilization of these services should be considered, and efficient resource management techniques should be developed. In this paper, we propose a new call admission control (CAC) scheme jointly with resource management by considering the two service types: prioritized c...
متن کاملResource Reservation for Adaptive QOS Mapping in Real-Time Mach
In this paper, we describe an adaptive QOS mapping scheme where the QOS parameters of applications are mapped into resource requirements dynamically, and the resources for the applications are reserved based on the measured resource utilization. Real-Time Mach provides resource reservation facilities that are suitable for supporting the adaptive QOS mapping scheme, and we show the e ectiveness ...

متن کاملImpact of Resource Reservation on the Distributed Multi–path Quality of Service Routing Scheme
This paper studies the impact of resource reservation on the multi–path Quality–of–Service (QoS) routing schemes that use global network state to make routing decisions. Incorporating resource reservation into multi–path QoS routing algorithms greatly changes the communication characteristics in a network system and affects the performance of the routing algorithms. In this paper, we develop a ...
متن کاملRESOURCES RESERVATION IN A REACTIVE QoS SCHEME
User Services Assistant (USA) is a novel reactive QoS agent that provides facilities for managing user to user QoS in Internet environments. By being reactive, it overcomes the problems associated with QoS management schemes that have been proposed to date, such as the mapping of the QoS parameters to end system parameters, and pre-determining the optimum way of degrading/upgrading the QoS. How...
