Persistant Hemothorax after Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery Secondary to Factor V Deficiency

چکیده
Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is a surgical procedure with low morbidity or mortality rate in thoracic surgery; even in more complicated lung resection is required. Consequently, in simple procedures, such as pleural biopsies or diagnostic pleuroscopy, the complication rate is very low. Evidence based studies have conclude that patients with limited pulmonary function have better outcome under VATS compared with traditional exploratory thoracotomy [1].

Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery for retained hemothorax in blunt chest trauma
PURPOSE OF REVIEW In the last decade, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) has become a popular method in diagnosis and treatment of acute chest injuries. Except for patients with unstable vital signs who require larger surgical incisions to check bleeding, this endoscopic surgery could be employed in the majority of thoracic injury patients with stable vital signs. RECENT FINDINGS In ...
متن کاملVideo-Assisted Minithoracotomy for Pulmonary Laceration with a Massive Hemothorax
Severe intrathoracic hemorrhage from pulmonary parenchyma is the most serious complication of pulmonary laceration after blunt trauma requiring immediate surgical hemostasis through open thoracotomy. The safety and efficacy of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) techniques for this life-threatening condition have not been fully evaluated yet. We report a case of pulmonary laceration wit...
متن کاملEmergency video-assisted thoracic surgery for ruptured pulmonary arteriovenous malformation-related hemothorax in a pregnant woman: a case report
BACKGROUND Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations are rare vascular abnormalities that permit direct communication between the pulmonary artery and vein. During pregnancy, pulmonary arteriovenous malformation carries an increased risk of enlargement and rupture, which could lead to life-threatening hemothorax. This is the first case reporting successful thoracoscopic surgery for a pregnant woman...
متن کاملComparison of Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery and Intrapleural Urokinase as an Initial Treatment for Parapneumonic Effusion and Thoracic Empyema
Introduction: The treatment of complicated parapneumonic effusion (PPE) and thoracic empyema (TE) is controversial; and the choice of treatment after confirming the failure of simple drainage remains unclear. The purpose of this study was to compare the outcomes of intrapleural urokinase (UK) administration and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) as initial treatment options for PPE and...
متن کاملEfficiency Analysis of Direct Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery in Elderly Patients with Blunt Traumatic Hemothorax without an Initial Thoracostomy
Hemothorax is common in elderly patients following blunt chest trauma. Traditionally, tube thoracostomy is the first choice for managing this complication. The goal of this study was to determine the benefits of this approach in elderly patients with and without an initial tube thoracostomy. Seventy-eight patients aged >65 years with blunt chest trauma and stable vital signs were included. All ...
