چکیده

Cross-terms lie between two auto-components and are oscillatory, with their frequencies increasing with increasing distance in time-frequency between the two components. The cross-terms can have a peak value as high as twice that of the auto-components. A Wigner distribution of a two-component signal is shown in Figure 1. In this figure, it is easy to separate the auto-components from the cross-components, but with more complicated signals it is often extremely difficult to interpret the Wigner distribution. In an effort to combat cross-terms, several filtered variants of the Wigner distribution have been developed. Since crossterms have oscillations of relacively high frequencies, low-pass filtering can potentially reduce them, at the expense of autocomponent broadening. It is generally accepted that some smoothing of the Wigner distribution is necessary in practical time-frequency analyses. The pseudo-Wigner distribution (PWD), defined here as WD,,+y(t,w) = WD,,(t,w) + 2Re[WD",y(t,w)] + WDy(t,w) (2) has a ~cross-termn 2&[ WD",y] in addition to the two autocomponents, where the cross-Wigner distribution is denned

Comparison of frequency-warped representations for source separation of stereo mixtures

We evaluate the use of different frequency-warped, nonuniform time-frequency representations for the purpose of sound source separation from stereo mixtures. Such transformations enhance frequency resolution in spectral areas relevant for the discrimination of the different sources, improving sparsity and mixture disjointness. In this paper, we study the effect of using such representations on ...

A new technique for bearing fault detection in the time-frequency domain

This paper presents a new Fast Kurtogram Method in the time-frequency domain using novel types of statistical features instead of the kurtosis. For this study, the problem of four classes for Bearing Fault Detection is investigated using various statistical features. This research is conducted in four stages. At first, the stability of each feature for each fault mode is investigated. Then, res...

An Improvement in Temporal Resolution of Seismic Data Using Logarithmic Time-frequency Transform Method

The improvement in the temporal resolution of seismic data is a critical issue in hydrocarbon exploration. It is important for obtaining more detailed structural and stratigraphic information. Many methods have been introduced to improve the vertical resolution of reflection seismic data. Each method has advantages and disadvantages which are due to the assumptions and theories governing their ...

Application of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation

Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...

A QUANTITATIVE COMPARISON OF NON−PARAMETRIC TIME−FREQUENCY REPRESENTATIONS (WedPmPO3)

In this paper we compare a variety of non−parametric time−frequency methods to determine the best time−−frequency representation (TFR) for a collection of signals. These methods include quadratic time−frequency transforms, atomic decomposition and adaptive quadratic time−frequency transforms. The performance measures used to assess the TFRs include; two−−dimensional correlation, IF correlation ...

Using both Binary and Residue Representations for Achieving Fast Converters in RNS

In this paper, a new method is introduced for improving the efficiency of the Residue Number System, which uses both binary and residue representations in order to represent a number. A residue number system uses the remainder of the division in several different modules. Conversion of a number to smaller ones and carrying out parallel calculations on these numbers greatly increase the speed of...
