Detecting daily commuting distance from GPS trajectory
نویسندگان
چکیده
Most people have certain acceptance of daily travel distance, which determines where they choose to live, to work, and to go for leisure. Such information is an important input for facility location-allocation, urban planning and transport management. Therefore, daily commuting distance has been adopted as an indicator to measure the distance acceptance, the rationality of land use structure, and livability of a city. At the same time, daily commuting distance also can reveal many personal characteristics. However, such information traditionally is obtained by questionnaire which is both labor-intensive and time-consuming. And most importantly, the sampling could not be very comprehensive. With the popularization of mobile phones, it has become possible to obtain individual movement trajectories to understand personal travel behavior. Related studies have shown that, human activities, ranging from communication to entertainment and work patterns, follow non-Poisson statistics (Barabási, 2005). This study uses GPS trajectories generated by smart phone to detect daily travel pattern, especially the daily commuting distance.

GPS Jamming Detection in UAV Navigation Using Visual Odometry and HOD Trajectory Descriptor
Auto-navigating of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in the outdoor environment is performed by using the Global positioning system (GPS) receiver. The power of the GPS signal on the earth surface is very low. This can affect the performance of GPS receivers in the environments contaminated with the other source of radio frequency interference (RFI). GPS jamming and spoofing are the most serious a...
متن کاملDetecting Commuting Patterns by Clustering Subtrajectories
In this paper we consider the problem of detecting commuting patterns in a trajectory. For this we search for similar subtrajectories. To measure spatial similarity we choose the Fréchet distance and the discrete Fréchet distance between subtrajectories, which are invariant under differences in speed. We give several approximation algorithms, and also show that the problem of finding the ‘longe...

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) positioning in the outdoor environment is usually done by the Global Positioning System (GPS). Due to the low power of the GPS signal at the earth surface, its performance disrupted in the contaminated environments with the jamming attacks. The UAV positioning and its accuracy using GPS will be degraded in the jamming attacks. A positioning error about tens of...

1 GPS-based travel survey is an emerging data collection method in transportation planning. 2 Its application in trip mode detection has been explored in many existing studies. 3 However, most existing research on GPS data based trip mode detection methods are 4 developed and tested with data collected from European and American countries. Their 5 methods cannot be easily adapted to Asian count...
متن کاملThe Fréchet/Manhattan Distance and the Trajectory Anonymisation Problem
Mobile communication has grown quickly in the last two decades. Connections can be wirelessly established from almost any habitable place in the earth, leading to a plethora of connection-based tracking mechanisms, such as GPS, GSM, RFID, etc. Trajectories representing the movement of people are consequently being gathered and analysed in a daily basis. However, a trajectory may contain sensiti...
