Certainty Equivalence Implies Detectability

چکیده
It is shown that any stabilizing, certainty equivalence control used within an adaptive control system, causes the familiar interconnection of a controlled process and associated output estimator to be detectable through the estimator's output error e p , for every frozen value of the index or parameter vector p upon which both the estimator and controller dynamics depend. The fact that certainty equivalence implies detectability has been known for some time { this has been shown to be so whenever the process model is linear and the controller and estimator models are also linear for every frozen value of p. In this paper use is made of recently introduced concepts of input-to-state stability and detectability for nonlinear systems, to prove that the same implication is valid in a more general, nonlinear setting.

متن کاملDetectability in Stochastic Discrete Event Systems
In this paper we define and analyze notions of detectability in stochastic discrete event systems (SDES). More specifically, we introduce the notions of A-detectability and AA-detectability which focus on characterizing our ability to estimate the true current state of a given SDES with increasing certainty as we observe more output symbols. We discuss observer-based techniques that can be used...
متن کاملOn detectability of labeled Petri nets with inhibitor arcs
Detectability is a basic property of dynamic systems: when it holds one can use the observed output signal produced by a system to reconstruct its current state. In this paper, we consider properties of this type in the framework of discrete event systems modeled by Petri nets (a.k.a. place/transition nets). We first study weak detectability and weak approximate detectability. The former implie...
متن کاملMin-Max Certainty Equivalence Principle and Differential Games
This paper presents a version of the Certainty Equivalence Principle, usable for nonlinear, variable end-time, partial observation Zero-Sum Differential Games, which states that under the unicity of the solution to the auxiliary problem, optimal controllers can be derived from the solution of the related perfect observation game. An example is provided where in one region, the new extended resu...
متن کاملLinear Systems with Actuator Nonlinearities
This paper applies nonlinear 3t, control techniques to linear systems with actuator nonlinearities. In [3], this was treated under the certainty equivalence assumption. The control design produces a finite dimensional measurement feedback controller which is computable online provided certain conditions are met. In this paper, we do not use certainty equivalence theory. Instead, we use the more...
