Judgment scales and consistency measure in AHP

چکیده
The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is widely used method in multiple-attribute decision making. In the recent literature many authors used different judgment scales which influenced the results and decisions. In this paper the author reviews and discusses effects of utilization of various judgment scales on priority estimation in AHP. There has been studies that have been concerned with the comparison of judgment scales but there were no studies concerned with consistency measures that are needed. The goal of this paper is to compare and discuss the application of various judgment scales on the results in particular practical example that has been used in previous paper by Saaty (2003). Thus the focus of the paper is to analyze the impact of using different judgment scales on the resulting priorities and consistency to default scale as proposed by Saaty. Results suggest that judgment scales have a profound impact on criteria priorities but not on ranking of criteria. However, the consistency varies among applied judgment scales. Authors calculated the values of random index needed for calculation of the consistency index in AHP for all concerned scales. Based on them the consistency index was computed and compared. Both consistent and inconsistent Saaty matrices were used for comparison. © 2014 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Decision making with the analytic hierarchy process
Decisions involve many intangibles that need to be traded off. To do that, they have to be measured along side tangibles whose measurements must also be evaluated as to, how well, they serve the objectives of the decision maker. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a theory of measurement through pairwise comparisons and relies on the judgements of experts to derive priority scales. It is th...
متن کاملPossibility Approach for Solve the Data Envelopment Analytical Hierarchy Process (deahp) with Fuzzy Judgment Scales
The data envelopment analytical hierarchy process (DEAHP) is a type of the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), which used the concept of data envelopment analysis (DEA) for generating LW from the judgment matrices and aggregating them to be final weight (FW) in AHP. In general, the judgment scales in AHP is built based on decision maker. It is unrealistic to expect that the decision maker has c...
متن کاملA Study on the Analytic Hierarchy Process Using a Fuzzy Reciprocal Matrix
Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one of the most popular method in the field of decision-making today. While there exist many kinds of extensions of AHP using fuzzy measures or fuzzy sets, one of the most natural uses of fuzzy sets is to employ a reciprocal matrix with fuzzy-valued entries. Indeed, using classical AHP, there is often not enough consistency among the data due to strong condit...
متن کاملStudies on Consistency Threshold of Kansei in Paired Comparison
Human Kansei is very complicated and it is not easy to evaluate it. Methods of paired comparison might be useful for evaluating human Kansei because it is generally said that human Kansei is nonlinear while methods of paired comparison are considered to be able to deal with nonlinear problems. In paired comparison it is important to confirm consistency of answers of each subject because if a su...
متن کاملConsistency Test in ANP Method with Group Judgment Under Intuitionistic Fuzzy Environment
The consistency test is one of the critical components both in AHP and ANP. It is necessary to make sure if the judgment result is accuracy and reliable. This paper stated a specific process of consistency test in ANP with group judgment under intuitionistic fuzzy environment. A two steps de-fuzzification technique with intuitionistic fuzzy number reduction and generalized mean computation is p...
