Determining Effects of Superfine Sheep wool in INfantile Eczema (DESSINE)

چکیده
This issue begins with Australian research showing that wearing superfine merino woollen clothing may help manage children with atopic dermatitis. Researchers from the US have reported that patients with hidradenitis suppurativa have changes in the expression of genes encoding enzymes involved in sphingolipid metabolic pathways. Research from Queensland reports on patients treated with diphenylcyclopropenone (diphencyprone) for in-transit melanoma. We finish up this month with research suggesting an adjunctive role for radiological imaging for assisting with diagnosing calciphylaxis.

Determining Effects of Superfine Sheep wool in INfantile Eczema (DESSINE): a randomized paediatric crossover study.
BACKGROUND Despite limited evidence, woollen clothing has traditionally been considered to be an irritant that should be avoided by individuals with atopic dermatitis (AD). Wool fibres come in a range of diameters, and have beneficial thermodynamic and moisture transport properties. OBJECTIVES This study examines the effects of superfine merino wool on symptoms in participants with mild-to-mo...

Crossbreeding of Australian Superfine Merinos (ASMs) with Gansu Alpine Finewool (GAF) sheep and an evaluation of the potential benefits of this genetic cross has not been previously conducted. 13 ASMs were crossbred with GAF sheep over a five year period with backcrossing designed to assess heterosis. Data from 11,178 lambs sired by 189 rams were used in the study. Genotype, birth year, birth t...
متن کاملPolymorphisms of KAP6, KAP7, and KAP8 genes in four Chinese sheep breeds.
High glycine-tyrosine proteins (HGTPs), also known as keratin-associated proteins (KAPs), play a key role in the major structures and mechanical properties of wool fiber. Sheep HGTPs consist of three multigene families: KAP6, KAP7, and KAP8 genes. Polymorphisms of these three genes have been proposed to have important effects on wool fiber traits. The aim of the present study was to identify po...
متن کاملAllocation of greenhouse gas production between wool and meat in the life cycle assessment of Australian sheep production
Purpose Australia is the largest supplier of high quality wool in the world. The environmental burden of sheep production must be shared between wool and meat. We examine different methods to handle these co-products and focus on proportional protein content as a basis for allocation, that is, protein mass allocation (PMA). This is the first comprehensive investigation applying PMA for calculat...
متن کاملEstimation of Economic Values of Productive Traits in Taleshi Sheep of Iran
In order to estimate economic values of productive traits (meat, milk and wool) in Taleshi native sheep breed of Iran, records from economic parameters and performance of local Taleshi flocks were used. The economic values of traits were used to select the maximum profit estimation also to study the sensitivity rate of the model the effects of 20 percent increase / decrease in the price of milk...
