چکیده

This paper proposes a model for the integration of a formal ontology and a folksonomy within a knowledge-based system. We evaluated such a model by designing ARNEIS 2.0, an “intelligent” and social web-based repository of software solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). ARNEIS 2.0 is a work in progress and aims at exploiting the integration of Semantic Web (ontologies and reasoning) and Web 2.0 techniques (user tagging and folksonomies) to support ICT companies that offer software solutions for SME business automation, and SME that are looking for ICT solution fulfilling their needs.

Exploiting Tagging in Ontology-based e-Learning

The ontologies are used to state the meaning of the terms used in data produced, shared and consumed within the context of Semantic Web applications. The folksonomies instead are an emergent phenomenon of the Social Web and represent the result of free tagging of information and objects in a social environment. Both ontologies and folksonomies are considered useful mechanisms to manage the info...

Folksonomized Ontologies – from social to formal

An ever-increasing number of web-based repositories aimed at sharing content, links or metadata rely on tags informed by users to describe, classify and organize their data. The term folksonomy has been used to define this “social taxonomy”, which emerges from tagging carried by users interacting in social environments. It contrasts with the formalism and systematic creation process applied to ...

FolksOntology: An Integrated Approach for Turning Folksonomies into Ontologies

We can observe that the amount of non-toy domain ontologies is still very limited for many areas of interest. In contrast, folksonomies are widely in use for (1) tagging Web pages (e.g. del.icio.us), (2) annotating pictures (e.g. flickr), or (3) classifying scholarly publications (e.g. bibsonomy). However, such folksonomies cannot offer the expressivity of ontologies, and the respective tags of...

Community-Driven Ontology Evolution Based on Folksonomies

The Semantic Web mission is to enable a better organization of the Web content to improve the searching, navigation and integration of the available information. Although the Semantic Web is intended for machines, the process of creating and maintaining it is a social one: only people, for example, have necessary skills to create and maintain ontologies. While most existing ontologies are desig...

Self-adaptation of Ontologies to Folksonomies in Semantic Web

Ontologies and tagging systems are two different ways to organize the knowledge present in the current Web. In this paper we propose a simple method to model folksonomies, as tagging systems, with ontologies. We show the scalability of the method using real data sets. The modeling method is composed of a generic ontology that represents any folksonomy and an algorithm to transform the informati...
