چکیده

We present 1.2 mm continuum images and spectral line observations of CO(1–0) and SiO(3–2) rotational transitions of the recent nova V4743 Sgr. The nova is detected at 1.2 mm showing a variable millimetre emission. Only upper limits of T ⋆ A = 0.06 K for CO and T ⋆ A = 0.03 K for SiO could be derived. We discuss the results in terms the nature of the millimetre emission favouring dust from a phase before the recent outburst as the likely radiating source. We also comment on the possibility of free–free emission from the ionised shell as the source of the measured millimetre radiation.

Nova Sagittarii 1994 # 1 ( V 4332 Sagittarii ) : The Discovery and Evolution of an Unusual Luminous Red Variable Star

We report photometry and spectroscopy of the evolution of Nova Sagittarii 1994 #1 (V4332 Sagittarii) during outburst. We compare the photometric and spectral evolution of this outburst to known classes of outbursts – including classical novae and outbursts occurring on symbiotic stars – and find this object does not conform to any known class of outburst. The closest match to the behavior of th...

Nova Sagittarii 1998 ( V 4633 Sgr ) – A Permanent Superhump System or an Asynchronous Polar ?

We report the results of observations of V4633 Sgr (Nova Sagittarii 1998) during 1998-2000. Two photometric periodicities were present in the light curve during the three years of observations: a stable one at P = 3.014 h, which is probably the orbital period of the underlying binary system, and a second one of lower coherence, approximately 2.5 per cent longer than the former. The latter perio...

Modeling CHANDRA Low Energy Transmission Grating Spectrometer Observations of Classical Novae with PHOENIX I. V4743 Sagittarii

We use the PHOENIX code package to model the X–ray spectrum of Nova V4743 Sagittarii observed with the LETGS onboard the Chandra satellite on March 2003. Our atmosphere models are 1D spherical, expanding, line blanketed, and in full NLTE. To analyze nova atmospheres and related systems with an underlying nuclear burning envelope at X–ray wavelengths, it was necessary to update the code with new...

Spitzer Observations of V4332 Sagittarii: Detection of Alumina Dust

We present broad-band 24, 70 and 160 μm photometry, 5-35 μm and 55-90 μm spectra of the eruptive variable V4332 Sgr from Spitzer observations. The distinguishing feature of the 5-35 μm spectrum is an unusually broad absorption feature near 10 μm at the position generally associated with silicate-rich dust. Through radiative transfer modeling, we show that this broad feature cannot arise from si...

Spectroscopic monitoring of the transition phase in nova V 4745 Sgr ⋆

We present a spectroscopic monitoring of the transient nova V4745 Sagittarii (Nova Sgr 2003 #1) covering ten months after the discovery. During this period the light curve showed well expressed transient phase in the form of six rebright-enings, and the presented dataset is one of the best spectroscopic coverages of a classical nova during the transition phase. Low-and medium-resolution spectra...
