چکیده

We investigate static and dynamical ground-state properties of the twoimpurity Anderson model at half filling in the limit of vanishing impurity separation using the dynamical density-matrix renormalization group method. In the weakcoupling regime, we find a quantum phase transition as function of inter-impurity hopping driven by the charge degrees of freedom. For large values of the local Coulomb repulsion, the transition is driven instead by a competition between local and non-local magnetic correlations. We find evidence that, in contrast to the usual phenomenological picture, it seems to be the bare effective exchange interactions which trigger the observed transition. Density-matrix renormalisation group approach to quantum impurity problems

A dynamic density-matrix renormalisation group approach to the spectral properties of quantum impurity problems is presented. The method is demonstrated on the spectral density of the flat-band symmetric single-impurity Anderson model. We show that this approach provides the impurity spectral density for all frequencies and coupling strengths. In particular, Hubbard satellites at high energy ca...

Symmetric Anderson impurity model with a narrow band

The single-channel Anderson impurity model is a standard model for the description of magnetic impurities in metallic systems. Usually, the bandwidth represents the largest energy scale of the problem. In this paper, we analyze the limit of a narrow band, which is relevant for the Mott-Hubbard transition in infinite dimensions. For the symmetric model we discuss two different effects. ~i! The i...

O ct 1 99 3 Functional Integral Approach to the single impurity

Recently, a functional integral representation was proposed by Weller [1], in which the fermionic fields strictly satisfy the constraint of no double occupancy at each lattice site. This is achieved by introducing spin dependent Bose fields. The functional integral method is applied to the single impurity Anderson model both in the Kondo and mixed-valence regime. The f-electron Green's function...

Quantum phase transitions in a charge-coupled Bose-Fermi Anderson model

We study the competition between Kondo physics and dissipation within an Anderson model of a magnetic impurity level that hybridizes with a metallic host and is also coupled, via the impurity charge, to the displacement of a bosonic bath having a spectral density proportional to s. As the impurity-bath coupling increases from zero, the effective Coulomb interaction between two electrons in the ...

Zero Temperature Metal-Insulator Transition in the Infinite-Dimensional Hubbard Model

The zero-temperature transition from a paramagnetic metal to a paramagnetic insulator is investigated in the dynamical mean field theory for the Hubbard model. The self-energy of the effective impurity Anderson model (on which the Hubbard model is mapped) is calculated using Wilson’s numerical renormalization group method. Results for the quasiparticle weight, the spectral function, and the sel...
