rpoB mutations in Streptococcus mitis clinical isolates resistant to rifampin.

چکیده
Activity of rifampin against 129 Streptococcus mitis isolates obtained from patients with hematologic cancer was investigated. One hundred twenty-five strains were susceptible to rifampin, and 4 were resistant (MIC = 32 to 64 microg/ml). Resistance to rifampin was related to mutations in the rpoB gene: His(526)Asn in three strains and His(526)Asp in one strain.

Investigation of the rpoB Mutations Causing Rifampin Resistance by Rapid Screening in Mycobacterium Tuberculosis in North-East of Iran
Background and Objectives: The incidence of rifampin-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis has attracted more attention than the tuberculosis infection due to laborious treatment and control. Recognizing the Mycobacterium tuberculosis genotypes involving in drug resistance via multiplex PCR, a simple and rapid genotyping method, is an emergency for better tre...
متن کاملMutations in the RpoB Gene of Multidrug-Resistant Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Isolates from Semarang, Indonesia
ABSTRACTTuberculosis is an infectious disease which occurs widely in the world and becomes one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide. Mutations of the RpoB gene cause the resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to rifampicin that contributes to the occurrence of MDR-TB. This study aimed to determine the pattern of rpoB gene polymorphisms in the MDR M. tuberculosis in Semarang, Indonesia. Mos...

Characterization of spontaneous, In vitro-selected, rifampin-resistant mutants of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain H37Rv.
Resistance to rifampin in Mycobacterium tuberculosis results from mutations in the gene coding for the beta subunit of RNA polymerase (rpoB). At least 95% of rifampin-resistant isolates have mutations in rpoB, and the mutations are clustered in a small region. About 40 distinct point mutations and in-frame insertions and deletions in rpoB have been identified, but point mutations in two codons,...
متن کاملRifampin resistance in Mycobacterium kansasii is associated with rpoB mutations.
Rifampin is the most potent drug used in the treatment of disease due to Mycobacterium kansasii. A 69-bp fragment of rpoB, the gene that encodes the beta subunit of the bacterial RNA polymerase, was sequenced and found to be identical in five rifampin-susceptible clinical isolates of M. kansasii. This sequence showed 87% homology with the Mycobacterium tuberculosis gene, with an identical deduc...
