Iterative maximum-likelihood/cross-correlation algorithm for reflection and pulse TOA estimation

چکیده
An iterative method that combines a parametric channel model with the maximum likelihood and cross-correlation estimation techniques has been developed to estimate the re ection, creeping wave, and times of arrival (T.O.A.s) from an echo (backscatter) emanating from a rigid acoustic sphere. The modeled echo is assumed to be more complex than a linear combination of delayed and scaled versions of the transmitted pulse, and the individual backscatter pulses need not be disjoint. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm is successful in determining the proper time delays of the re ection and the creeping wave for a variety of received signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs).

Super Resolution TOA Estimation Algorithm with Maximum Likelihood ICA Based Pre-Processing
High-resolution time of arrival (TOA) estimation techniques have great promise for the high range resolution required in recently developed radar systems. A widely known super-resolution TOA estimation algorithm for such applications, the multiple-signal classification (MUSIC) in the frequency domain, has been proposed, which exploits an orthogonal relationship between signal and noise eigenvec...
متن کاملTwo-Step Time of Arrival Estimation for Pulse-Based Ultra-Wideband Systems
In cooperative localization systems, wireless nodes need to exchange accurate position-related information, such as time-of-arrival (TOA) and angle-of-arrival (AOA), in order to obtain accurate location information. One alternative for providing accurate position-related information is to use ultra-wideband (UWB) signals. High time resolution of UWB signals presents a potential for very accurat...
متن کاملBayesian and Iterative Maximum Likelihood Estimation of the Coefficients in Logistic Regression Analysis with Linked Data
This paper considers logistic regression analysis with linked data. It is shown that, in logistic regression analysis with linked data, a finite mixture of Bernoulli distributions can be used for modeling the response variables. We proposed an iterative maximum likelihood estimator for the regression coefficients that takes the matching probabilities into account. Next, the Bayesian counterpart...

A novel hybrid method for tracking multiple indistinguishable maneuvering targets using a wireless sensor network is introduced in this paper. The problem of tracking the location of targets is formulated as a Maximum Likelihood Estimation. We propose a hybrid optimization method, which consists of an iterative and a heuristic search method, for finding the location of targets simultaneously. T...
متن کاملOn Time-of-Arrival Estimation in NB-IoT Systems
We consider time-of-arrival (ToA) estimation of a first arrival-path for a device working in narrowband Internetof-Things (NB-IoT) systems. Due to a limited 180 KHz bandwidth used in NB-IoT, the time-domain auto-correlation function (ACF) of transmitted NB positioning reference signal (NPRS) has a wide main lobe. Without considering that, the performance of ToA estimation can be degraded for tw...
