چکیده

The present study extends the Resource Based View by appealing to firm-specific cognitive frames as co-determinants of persistent performance differentials. It is proposed that cognitive frames shared among members of a specific business organization influence financial performance by a causal chain running through information processing and uncertainty. The empirical test supports the proposed relation between cognitive frames and performance. The evidence is based on survey data obtained in 1995, a follow-up survey conducted 1999 and archival data. Furthermore, the empirical analysis introduces a novel mediator test to estimate path models when the usual structural equation approach is infeasible.
