چکیده

Time of survival and infectivity of Trichinella spiralis larvae in pig muscle tissue, buried at various depths in the ground were assessed. In the pork pieces the number of infective larvae was 250 ML/g. Meat originated from pig halves was divided in 39 equal pieces, 0.7 kg each, disposed in three groups of 1 3, and buried in depths of 30, 50, and 100 centimeters respectively. The pork was dug up at 13 intervals, approximately every week, until 9 1 s t day of the experiment. After each time interval, infectivity of larvae was assessed by bioassay on rats. The artificially infected rats were sacrificed on 4 2 n d day after the infection and meat was examined by the following methods artificial digestion and trichinoscopy. It was found that the larvae during all 90 days preserved infectivity in each depth.

Amelioration of Myogenin, Bcl-2 expression and DNA damages in myocytes of Trichinella spiralis-infected mice after immunization with gamma radiation-attenuated larvae

Background: In trichinosis, the presence of muscle larvae inside skeletal striated muscle causes loss of identity and function of myotube through the releasing of myogenin and myosin. Considering the dominant role of vaccination, research on gamma radiation-attenuated vaccine has very promising value. The goal of this study was to determine the efficacy of vaccination with radiation-attenuated ...

Infectivity, persistence and serological response of nine Trichinella genotypes in rats.

Domestic and sylvatic Trichinella genotypes were evaluated for infectivity, muscle larvae persistence, and host antibody responses in rats. Groups of rats were inoculated with T. spiralis, T. nativa, T. britovi, three genotypes of T. pseudospiralis (from USSR, USA, and Australia), T. murrelli, Trichinella T6, and T. nelsoni, respectively. The muscle larvae intensity (larvae per gram), total lar...

Larval viability and serological response in horses with long-term Trichinella spiralis infection.

The horse is considered an aberrant host for the nematode parasite Trichinella spiralis, and many aspects of the biology and epidemiology of Trichinella infection in the horse are poorly understood. It has been reported that experimentally-infected horses produce a transient serological response to infection and that muscle larvae are cleared more rapidly than in parasite-adapted hosts such as ...

Viability and infectivity of Trichinella spiralis muscle larvae in frozen horse tissue.

Many aspects of the biology and epidemiology of Trichinella infection in the horse are poorly understood, including survival of Trichinella spp in horse muscle. In this study, we have assessed the freeze tolerance of T. spiralis in horse meat stored at 5, -5, and -18 degrees C for 1 day to 24 weeks. Results demonstrate a steady reduction in the number of live ML recovered from the cold stored m...

Freezing Resistance of a Trichinella spiralis nativa Isolate from a Gray Wolf, Canis lupus, in Montana, with Observations on Genetic and Biological Characteristics of the Biotype

A Trichinella spiralis isolate obtained from a gray wolf (Canis lupus) in northwestern Montana in 1987 was evaluated for infectivity and resistance to freezing and its DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP's) compared to that from other sylvatic and domestic isolates. Infectivity indices in albino mice were low (<2.6) and correlated well with mouse infectivity data from other sylv...
