Equilogical spaces

چکیده
It is well known that one can build models of full higher-order dependent type theory (also called the calculus of constructions) using partial equivalence relations (PERs) and assemblies over a partial combinatory algebra (PCA). But the idea of categories of PERs and ERs (total equivalence relations) can be applied to other structures as well. In particular, we can easily define the category of ERs and equivalencepreserving continuous mappings over the standard category Top0 of topological T0-spaces; we call these spaces (a topological space together with an ER) equilogical spaces and the resulting category Equ. We show that this category—in contradistinction to Top0—is a cartesian closed category. The direct proof outlined here uses the equivalence of the category Equ to the category PEqu of PERs over algebraic lattices (a full subcategory of Top0 that is well known to be cartesian closed from domain theory). In another paper with Carboni and Rosolini (cited herein) a more abstract categorical generalization shows why many such categories are cartesian closed. The category Equ obviously contains Top0 as a full subcategory, and it naturally contains many other well known subcategories. In particular, we show why, as a consequence of work of Ershov, Berger, and others, the Kleene-Kreisel hierarchy of countable functionals of finite types can be naturally constructed in Equ from the natural numbers object N by repeated use in Equ of exponentiation and binary products. We also develop for Equ notions of modest sets (a category equivalent to Equ) and assemblies to explain why a model of dependent type theory is obtained. We make some comparisons of this model to other, known models.

Topological and Limit-Space Subcategories of Countably-Based Equilogical Spaces
There are two main approaches to obtaining “topological” cartesian-closed categories. Under one approach, one restricts to a full subcategory of topological spaces that happens to be cartesian closed — for example, the category of sequential spaces. Under the other, one generalises the notion of space — for example, to Scott’s notion of equilogical space. In this paper we show that the two appr...

After introducing singular homology for D. Scott's equilogical spaces [Sc], we show how these structures can express 'formal quotients' of topological spaces, which do not exist as ordinary spaces and are related with well-known noncommutative C*-algebras. This study also uses a wider notion of local maps between equilogical spaces, which might be of interest for the general theory of the latte...

We introduce a preordered version of D. Scott's equilogical spaces [Sc], called inequilogical spaces, as a possible setting for Directed Algebraic Topology. The new structure can also express 'formal quotients' of spaces, which are not topological spaces and are of interest in noncommutative geometry, with finer results than the ones obtained with equilogical spaces, in a previous paper. This s...
متن کاملSeparation Classes of Equilogical Spaces
The category TOP of topological spaces is not cartesian closed, but can be embedded into the cartesian closed category ASSM of assemblies over algebraic lattices, which is a generalisation of Scott's category EQU of equilogical spaces. In this paper, we identify cartesian closed subcategories of assemblies which correspond to well-known separation properties of topology: T 0 ,
متن کاملContinuous Functionals of Dependent Types and Equilogical Spaces
We show that dependent sums and dependent products of continuous parametrizations on domains with dense, codense, and natural totalities agree with dependent sums and dependent products in equilogical spaces, and thus also in the realizability topos RT(Pω).
