Quantitative Measures for Software Independent Verification and Validation
نویسنده
چکیده
ii Foreword The primary objective of this project is the formulation of software independent verification and validation (IV&V) methodologies that can be readily applied to future software development projects both for and within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Inherent in the methodologies is the precise specification of software measurement and data collection processes in the software development process so that more precise comparisons may be made in future software verification and validation activities. This objective will be achieved through the modification of existing reliability models to incorporate measures of dynamic program complexity. We now understand that reliability of a software system is directly determined by the execution environment of the software. Our goal is to build on the measurement methodologies established in the first phase of this project to improve the accuracy of software reliability assessment for the Space Shuttle primary avionics software system (PASS) and, ultimately, all software delivered to NASA. The technical manager of the project wishes to thank the following organizations and individuals for their technical contributions:

Performance of SWAT Model in Quantitative and Qualitative Simulation of Runoff and Watershed Protective Measures in Zarrinehrood Basin
This study aims to simulate runoff and runoff quality of Zarrineh river basin by SWAT model. Calibration and verification were done respectively with monthly runoff statistics in SWAT CUP by SUFI2 method for 1992-2013, for 12 sub basin, 226 HRU and monthly nitrate data for 2006-2009. The highest runoff sensitivity and runoff quality with minimum Pvalue and maximum absolute value Ttest belong to...
متن کاملEstimating the Required Test Volume and Effort for Software Verification and Validation
This paper introduces an approach to estimating the test volume and related effort required to perform verification and validation activities on software projects. This approach first uses size measures of functional requirements to estimate this volume, and then effort estimation models based on these test volumes. This estimation approach takes into account other types of non-functional requi...
متن کاملSoftware Metrics Need to Mature into Software Metrology ( Recommendations )
If software engineering is to mature into a recognized engineering discipline, it needs to be supported by measures, measurement methods and well tested descriptive and quantitative models. Other disciplines have developed a considerable body of knowledge with respect to measures, measurement instruments and quantitative models using measurement results to analyze relationships across objects a...

The main research question, which has been the basis for this thesis is “How should system verification and validation be conducted for large software systems to achieve high quality at a low cost?” Since system verification and validation activities involve a great number of processes and techniques, the research must be limited. The important issues for the organization have influenced the li...
متن کاملIndependent Verification and Validation (IV&V) Techniques for Object Oriented Software Systems
This paper presents an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) framework for the emerging use of Object Oriented (OO) techniques for large-scale NASA systems. The paper is focused on use case analysis. IV&V is most beneficial if the analysis is performed during early phases of the software development. This paper presents IV&V framework with an emphasis on use case prioritization and use...
