A Vision for modeling and simulation at ApL

pL’s science and Technology (s&T) Vision calls on the Laboratory to be “an excellent practitioner” in modeling and simulation (m&s), while looking to others to lead in this area. in fact, ApL has made significant m&s contributions to sponsor programs throughout its existence. because of the rapid advances in computing and networking technologies over the past two decades, being an excellent practitioner demands maintaining cognizance of the rapidly advancing state of the art and practice in m&s in order to ensure that the high-technology military and civilian programs that ApL supports can capitalize on these advances. This article provides a brief overview of the state of the practice of m&s at the Laboratory and describes a vision and strategy for ApL to maintain its role in this area.
