Beam Distortion in Doppler Ultrasound Flow Test Rigs: Measurement Using a String Phantom
نویسنده
چکیده
The tube in flow rigs used for testing Doppler ultrasound instruments can attenuate and distort the beam and sample volume by refraction, reflection, absorption and mode conversion. The attenuation and degree of distortion has been measured by using a moving string test object and candidate tubes have been compared. Tubes of rubber, TFE-Teflon, Perspex, heatshrink and C-Flex have been tested leading to the choice of 0.8mm wall C-Flex. KeywordsDoppler, ultrasound, test, flow

Thin-beam ultrasound overestimation of blood flow: how wide is your beam?
It has been predicted that the development of thin-beam ultrasound could lead to an overestimation of mean blood velocity by up to 33% as beam width approaches 0% of vessel diameter. If both beam and vessel widths are known, in theory, this overestimation may be correctable. Therefore, we updated a method for determining the beam width of a Doppler ultrasound system, tested the utility of this ...
متن کاملTesting of Doppler Ultrasound Systems
Blood and tissue velocities are measured and analyzed in cardiac, vascular, and other applications of diagnostic ultrasound. Errors in system performance might give invalid measurements. We developed two moving string test targets and a rotating cylinder phantom (Doppler phantoms) to characterize Doppler ultrasound systems. These phantoms were initially used to measure such variables as sample ...

متن کاملAssessment of Spectral Doppler for an Array-Based Preclinical Ultrasound Scanner Using a Rotating Phantom
Velocity measurement errors were investigated for an array-based preclinical ultrasound scanner (Vevo 2100, FUJIFILM VisualSonics, Toronto, ON, Canada). Using a small-size rotating phantom made from a tissue-mimicking material, errors in pulse-wave Doppler maximum velocity measurements were observed. The extent of these errors was dependent on the Doppler angle, gate length, gate depth, gate ho...

Introduction: Geometric distortion, an important parameter in neurology and oncology. The current study aimed to design and construct a new three-dimensional (3D) phantom using a 3D printer in order to measure geometric distortion and its 3D reproducibility. Material and Methods: In this study, a new phantom ...
