These are similar figures to those for children currently in poverty, and those who have been in poverty consistently since kindergarten, but they differ dramatically from those of children of college-educated mothers. Only 10 percent of children with college-educated mothers score in the bottom third of the fifth grade reading distribution, while 13 percent score in the bottom third of the fifth grade math distribution.
