Efficient Multimedia Streaming for Power Aware Devices: A survey

چکیده
Power consumption is a leading concern when running applications on battery operated devices such as handhelds and laptops. This concern is heightened when accessing multimedia streams, owing to their high CPU requirement, and their realtime characteristics. Various techniques have been devised to optimize power consumption while maintaining the quality of the media presentation. Solutions range from architecture level changes, to optimizations in network delivery, and even adaptation of media content. This talk gives an overview of some of these solutions.
