Comparison of CMR DENSE strain imaging and 2D speckle tracking echocardiography for cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) response

چکیده
Background Considering that nonresponse rates to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) are typically 35-50%, assessment of the cardiac substrate for CRT with cardiac imaging could be very helpful for many patients with heart failure referred for this therapy. We have previously shown that CMR assessment of dyssynchrony using displacement encoding with stimulated echoes (DENSE) is strongly associated with CRT response; however, there has not yet been a direct comparison between this CMR methodology and more commonly used 2D speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) dyssynchrony parameters.

A comparison between radial strain evaluation by speckle-tracking echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, for assessment of suitable segments for left ventricular lead placement in cardiac resynchronization therapy.
AIMS A cut-off of 9.8% maximum speckle-tracking radial strain in the segment with the latest mechanical delay has been proposed as predictive for selecting the best left ventricular lead placement for positive response on cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). However, pacing transmural scar should be avoided, and the purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of echocardiographic radi...
متن کاملFeature tracking measurement of dyssynchrony from cardiovascular magnetic resonance cine acquisitions: comparison with echocardiographic speckle tracking
BACKGROUND Analysis of left ventricular (LV) mechanical dyssynchrony may provide incremental prognostic information regarding cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) response in addition to QRS width alone. Our objective was to quantify LV dyssynchrony using feature tracking post processing of routine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) cine acquisitions (FT-CMR) in comparison to speckle tr...
متن کاملSpeckle tracking echocardiography: clinical applications in cardiac resynchronization therapy.
Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) is a proven therapy for selected patients with heart failure, it has been shown to improve symptoms and left ventricular (LV) function and prolong survival. Despite proven benefit of CRT, a significant proportion of patients fail to respond to CRT. Multiple factors contribute to the non-response such as patient selection and device implantation including ...
متن کاملAssessment of left ventricular dyssynchrony by speckle tracking strain imaging comparison between longitudinal, circumferential, and radial strain in cardiac resynchronization therapy.
OBJECTIVES The objective of this study was to assess the usefulness of each type of strain for left ventricular (LV) dyssynchrony assessment and its predictive value for a positive response after cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). Furthermore, changes in extent of LV dyssynchrony for each type of strain were evaluated during follow-up. BACKGROUND Different echocardiographic techniques h...
متن کاملStrain dyssynchrony index determined by three-dimensional speckle area tracking can predict response to cardiac resynchronization therapy
BACKGROUND We have previously reported strain dyssynchrony index assessed by two-dimensional speckle tracking strain, and a marker of both dyssynchrony and residual myocardial contractility, can predict response to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). A newly developed three-dimensional (3-D) speckle tracking system can quantify endocardial area change ratio (area strain), which coupled wit...
