چکیده

The single-pulse characteristics of the millisecond pulsar PSR B1937]21 are studied using the recently installed Caltech baseband recorder at the Arecibo Radio Observatory in Puerto Rico. This is the Ðrst such analysis of this object that includes both average intensity pulses as well as ““ giant pulses.ÏÏ Pulse ensemble-averaging techniques are developed in order to study the characteristics of PSR B1937]21Ïs single pulses since the high time resolution signal-to-noise ratio is less than unity. This analysis reveals that the nonÈgiant pulse radio emission is extremely stable. All observed Ñuctuations are consistent with di†ractive interstellar scattering. Such intrinsic stability has yet to be observed in other radio pulsars. Subject headings : pulsars : general È pulsars : individual (B1937]21, B0823]26) È radio continuum: stars È stars : neutron

Giant Radio Pulses from the Millisecond Pulsar PSR B1937+21 at 327 MHz

Seven giant radio pulses were recorded from the millisecond pulsar PSR B1937+21 during ≈ 8.1 minutes observation by the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) at 326.5 MHz. Although sparse, these observations support most of the giant pulse behavior reported at higher radio frequencies (430 to 2380 MHz). Within the main component of the integrated profile, they are emitted only in a narrow (∼ 47 μs) window...

The single-pulse properties of the millisecond radio pulsar PSR B1937+21 are studied in the 1410 MHz radio band. Aside from occasional “giant pulses” occurring in restricted regions of pulse phase, the emission appears to be remarkably stable, showing no pulse-to-pulse fluctuations other then those induced by propagation through the interstellar medium. This type of behavior has not been seen i...

Radio Pulse Properties of the Millisecond Pulsar Psr J0437[4715. I. Observations at 20 Centimeters

We present a total of 48 minutes of observations of the nearby, bright millisecond pulsar PSR J0437[4715 taken at the Parkes Observatory in Australia. The data were obtained at a central radio frequency of 1380 MHz using a high-speed tape recorder that permitted coherent Nyquist sampling of 50 MHz of bandwidth in each of two polarizations. Using the high time resolution available from this volt...
