چکیده

A new type of electronic receiver based on stochastic resonance properties is proposed to retrieve subthreshold modulated (or not) digital signals. In order to check the receiver performances, we investigated different kinds of modulations. Considering both uniform and gaussian white noise, a total restoration of the emitted data is achieved for an unmodulated or amplitude modulated (A.M.) signals, while an almost total restoration is reached using a frequency shift keying (F.S.K.) modulation. These experimental results confirm the great interest of stochastic resonance in the signal transmission field.

Nanotube Stochastic Resonance: Noise–enhanced Detection of Subthreshold Signals

Noise can help signal detection at the nano–level. Experiments on a single–walled carbon nanotube transistor confirm that a threshold exhibits stochastic resonance: a judicious amount of noise can help a threshold–like nanotube transistor detect subthreshold signals while large amounts of noise overwhelm the signals. The nanotube produced this stochastic–resonance effect using three types of sy...

Statistical analysis of stochastic resonance with ergodic diffusion noise

A subthreshold signal is transmitted through a channel and may be detected when some noise – with known structure and proportional to some level – is added to the data. There is an optimal noise level, called stochastic resonance, that corresponds to the highest Fisher information in the problem of estimation of the signal. As noise we consider an ergodic diffusion process and the asymptotic is...

Constructive Action of Additive Noise in Optimal Detection

The optimal detection of a signal of known form hidden in additive white noise is examined in the framework of stochastic resonance and noise-aided information processing. Conditions are exhibited where the performance in the optimal detection increases when the level of the additive (non-Gaussian bimodal) noise is raised. On the additive signal–noise mixture, when a threshold quantization is p...

Development of add-on stochastic resonance device for the detection of subthreshold RF signals

Stochastic resonance (SR) is a nonlinear phenomenon that, under certain conditions, can enhance system response by adding noise to the signals of some nonlinear system. A particular advantage of SR over conventional linear systems is that it is able to detect subthreshold signals that linear systems hardly sense. Unfortunately, most research of SR in wireless communication systems has focused o...
