Comparison of Linear Dynamic Models for Air Traffic Flow Management
نویسنده
چکیده
Traditionally, models used in air traffic flow management are based on simulating the trajectories of individual aircraft. While practical, this approach does not offer any insights into the dynamics of the traffic flow. Recently, two different approaches, (1) aggregate traffic model approach and (2) Eulerian model approach, have been presented to generate linear dynamic models that represent the behaviour of the air traffic flow. The dimension of the linear models is independent of the number of aircraft in the system and depends on the spatial discretization of the airspace. The resulting linear models can be used both for the analysis and synthesis of traffic flow management techniques. Copyright © 2005 IFAC

An Aggregate Flow Model for Air Traffic Management
Traditionally, models used in air traffic control and flow management are based on simulating the trajectories of individual aircraft. This approach results in models with a large number of states, which are intrinsically susceptible to errors and difficult for designing and implementing optimal strategies for traffic flow management. This paper outlines an innovative approach for the developme...

متن کاملComparison of the performance of four Eulerian network flow models for strategic air traffic management
Four Eulerian network models are implemented to model high altitude air traffic flow. Three of the models use the framework of discrete time dynamical systems, while the fourth consists of a network of partial differential equations. The construction of these models is done using one year of air traffic data. The four models are applied to high altitude traffic for six Air Route Traffic Control...
متن کاملLayered Moment-Linear Network Models as Tools for Strategic Air Traffic Flow Management
For strategic traffic flow management, models are needed that allow NAS stakeholders to characterize the joint evolution of weather (and/or its impact on air traffic operating capabilities) in conjunction with the evolution of traffic flows. While queueing models show some promise for permitting meshed analysis of weather and traffic (including flow management initiatives), they are mathematica...
