چکیده
Methods and Results: When injected into the border zone of mice after acute myocardial infarction, Shhmodified CD34 cells (CD34) protected against ventricular dilation and cardiac functional declines associated with acute myocardial infarction. Treatment with CD34 also reduced infarct size and increased border zone capillary density compared with unmodified CD34 cells or cells transfected with the empty vector. CD34

Sonic hedgehog is a critical mediator of erythropoietin-induced cardiac protection in mice.
Erythropoietin reportedly has beneficial effects on the heart after myocardial infarction, but the underlying mechanisms of these effects are unknown. We here demonstrate that sonic hedgehog is a critical mediator of erythropoietin-induced cardioprotection in mice. Treatment of mice with erythropoietin inhibited left ventricular remodeling and improved cardiac function after myocardial infarcti...

متن کاملTranslation of Methdology used in Human Myocardial Imaging to a Sheep Model of Acute Myocardial Infarction
Background: Pre-clinical investigation of stem cells for repairing damaged myocardium predominantly used rodents, however large animals have cardiac circulation closely resembling the human heart. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether SPECT/CT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) could be used for assessing sheep myocardium following an acute myocardial infarction (MI) and response to int...
متن کاملTargeting human CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells with anti-CD45 x anti-myosin light-chain bispecific antibody preserves cardiac function in myocardial infarction.
We have previously shown that targeting human CD34(+) hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) with a bispecific antibody (BiAb) directed against myosin light chain (MLC) increases delivery of cells to the injured hearts and improves cardiac performance in the nude rat. In this study, we have sought to validate our previous observations and to perform more detailed determination of ventricular function i...
متن کاملOxidative stress contributes to the impaired sonic hedgehog pathway in type 1 diabetic mice with myocardial infarction
Our previous study demonstrated that an impaired sonic hedgehog (Shh) pathway contributed to cardiac dysfunction in type 1 diabetic mice with myocardial infarction (MI). The present study aimed to test the hypothesis that oxidative stress may contribute to the impaired Shh pathway and cardiac dysfunction in type 1 diabetic mice with MI. Streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetic mice (C57/Bl6, male...
