Globase.KOM - A Peer-to-Peer Overlay for Fully Retrievable Location-based Search
نویسندگان
چکیده
Location based services are becoming increasingly popular as devices that determine the geographical position got more available to the end users. The problem of existing solutions to location-based search, e.g. in car navigation systems, is keeping information updated because of centralized maintenance at specific times. Therefore, retrieved results do not include all objects that exist in reality. A peer-to-peer approach can easily overcome this issue as peers are responsible for the information users are searching for. Unfortunately, current stateof-the-art overlays cannot fulfill the requirements for efficient and fully retrievable location-based search. In this paper we present Globase.KOM, a hierarchical tree-based peer-to-peer overlay that enables fully retrievable area search, lookup, and finding the geographically closest node. Simulation results prove that the overlay operations of Globase.KOM are highly efficient, fully retrievable, and logarithmically scalable. Protocol overhead and load of the peers in the overlay have been evaluated as well.

TAC: A Topology-Aware Chord-based Peer-to-Peer Network
Among structured Peer-to-Peer systems, Chord has a general popularity due to its salient features like simplicity, high scalability, small path length with respect to network size, and flexibility on node join and departure. However, Chord doesn’t take into account the topology of underlying physical network when a new node is being added to the system, thus resulting in high routing late...
متن کاملGeoP2P: An adaptive peer-to-peer overlay for efficient search and update of spatial information
This paper proposes a fully decentralized peer-to-peer overlay structure GeoP2P, to facilitate geographic location based search and retrieval of information. Certain limitations of centralized geographic indexes favor peer-to-peer organization of the information, which, in addition to avoiding performance bottleneck, allows autonomy over local information. Peer-to-peer systems for geographic or...

متن کاملMill: A Geographical Location Oriented Overlay Network Managing Data of Ubiquitous Sensors
With the rapid rise in the demand for location related service, communication devices such as PDAs or cellar phones must be able to search and manage information related to the geographical location. To leverage location-related information is useful to get an in-depth perspective on environmental circumstances, such as traffic conditions or weather information. To handle the large number of in...
متن کاملProactive Search Routing for Mobile Peer-to-Peer Networks: Zone-based P2P
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks without central entities, such as Gnutella or JXTA, generally suffer from a high signaling load resulting in poor efficiency. The main reason therefore is the flooding of search requests in the overlay, since in most P2P protocols the nodes are not aware of the P2P overlay network topology. Especially for resource constrained environments such as mobile communication...
