چکیده

Volume 82, Number 12 www.aafp.org/afp American Family Physician 1541 The bivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) recombinant vaccine (Cervarix) is the second vaccine to be approved in the United States for the prevention of cervical cancer, cervical adenocarcinoma in situ, and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) caused by HPV types 16 and 18.1 These HPV types currently cause 70 percent of all cervical cancers.2 Unlike the quadrivalent HPV vaccine (Gardasil), Cervarix does not provide protection against HPV types 6 and 11, which are responsible for 90 percent of genital warts in males and females.2 The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends HPV vaccination for females nine to 26 years of age.2 Bivalent HPV Recombinant Vaccine (Cervarix) for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer
