A cosmological constant limits the size of black holes.

چکیده
In a space-time with cosmological constant Λ > 0 and matter satisfying the dominant energy condition, the area of a black or white hole cannot exceed 4π/Λ. This applies to event horizons where defined, i.e. in an asymptotically deSitter space-time, and to outer trapping horizons (cf. apparent horizons) in any space-time. The bound is attained if and only if the horizon is identical to that of the degenerate ‘SchwarzschilddeSitter’ solution. This yields a topological restriction on the event horizon, namely that components whose total area exceeds 4π/Λ cannot merge. We discuss the conjectured isoperimetric inequality and implications for the cosmic censorship conjecture.

Possible Effects of a Cosmological Constant on Black Hole Evolution
We explore possible effects of vacuum energy on the evolution of black holes. If the universe contains a cosmological constant, and if black holes can absorb energy from the vacuum, then black hole evaporation could be greatly suppressed. For the magnitude of the cosmological constant suggested by current observations, black holes larger than ∼ 4× 10 g would accrete energy rather than evaporate...

In light of recent evidence suggesting a nonzero present-day cosmological constant [1], Adams, Mbonye, & Laughlin[2] have considered the evolution of black holes in the presence of vacuum energy. Using the assumption that Λ remains constant with time and a conjecture based on a paper by Mallett [3], they reach the remarkable conclusion that black holes with current mass greater than ∼ 2 × 10 −9...
متن کاملCosmological multi-black-hole solutions.
We present simple, analytic solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell equation, which describe an arbitrary number of charged black holes in a spacetime with positive cosmological constant Λ. In the limit Λ = 0, these solutions reduce to the well known Majumdar-Papapetrou (MP) solutions. Like the MP solutions, each black hole in a Λ > 0 solution has charge Q equal to its mass M , up to a possible overa...
متن کاملExistence of stable hairy black holes in su(2) Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with a negative cosmological constant
We consider black holes in EYM theory with a negative cosmological constant. The solutions obtained are somewhat different from those for which the cosmological constant is either positive or zero. Firstly, regular black hole solutions exist for continuous intervals of the parameter space, rather than discrete points. Secondly, there are non-trivial solutions in which the gauge field has no nod...
متن کاملNon-Singular Black Holes, the Cosmological Constant and Asymptotic Safety
Quantum gravitational effects in black hole spacetimes with a cosmological constant Λ are considered. The effective quantum spacetimes for the black holes are constructed by taking into account the renormalization group improvement of classical solutions obtained in the framework of Unimodular Gravity (a theory which is identical to General Relativity at a classical level). This allows us to av...
