The Effect of Kinetin, Gibberellic Acid and Indole Acetic Acid on EMS-Induced Somatic Mutation and Recombination in Drosophila melanogaster
نویسنده
چکیده
The effect of plant growth hormones (kinetin, gibberellic acid (GA3) and indole acetic acid (IAA)) on EMS-induced mutant wing spots was studied with the somatic mutation and recombination test (SMART) in Drosophila melanogaster. GA3 reduced all kinds of EMS-induced spot. While a 10 -3 M concentration of kinetin reduced only the number of EMS-induced twin spots, a 10-4 M concentration was seen to increase the number of all types of spot. The same concentrations of IAA gave variable results. A 10-4 M concentration of IAA caused a decrease only in the number of large single spots. Our results confirmed that plant growth hormones, especially GA3, can act as a bio-antimutagen.

Concentration dependent effect of morphine, aspirin, capsaicin and chili pepper hydro alcoholic extract on thermal and chemical pain model in fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster)
Introduction: Pain research using animal models is related to ethical concerns, so invertebrates and insects have been recommended by researchers. In the present study, the nociceptive and antinociceptive effects of capsaicin, aspirin, morphine and chili extract were examined using fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) as an alternative for rodent pain model. Methods: Stage 3 of larvae and ad...
متن کاملThe Effect of Indole-3-acetic Acid and Other Growth Regulators on the Ripening of Avocado Fruits.
Observations were made of the effects of several plant regulators, indole-3-acetic acid, kinetin, abscisic acid, and gibberellic acid, as well as of extracts prepared from leaves and fruit stalks on the respiration pattern, ethylene production, and the number of days to ripen of avocado fruits (Persea americana Mill.). These substances were vacuum infiltrated to insure good penetration and dist...
متن کاملEffect of Salicylic Acid on Somatic Embryogenesis and Chlorogenic Acid Levels of Carrot (Daucus carota cv. Nantes) Explants
Many factors may influence the efficiency of somatic embryogenesis. This capability may be differ with regard to media compositions, genotype, tissue, organ ontology and the stage of differentiation. The effects of five salicylic acid concentrations (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mM) on different stages of carrot somatic embryogenesis were studied using petiole and root secondary phloem explants as sta...

In the present study, small segments of cotyledon, apical bud, hypocotyl, and root of 10-day-old seedlings were isolated and transferred to Murashige and Skoog (MS) base medium with different treatments of phytohormones. Two media were used for apical bud culture: MS with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and kinetin (Kin) (1 mg/l) and the other medium, MS with double vitamin of MS and 6-benzylaminopu...

The genotoxicity of bloom head (BHE) and leaf (LE) extracts from artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.), and their ability to modulate the mutagenicity and recombinogenicity of two alkylating agents (ethyl methanesulfonate - EMS and mitomycin C - MMC) and the intercalating agent bleomycin (BLM), were examined using the somatic mutation and recombination test (SMART) in Drosophila melanogaster. Neither ...
