چکیده

apparent correlation between the susceptibility of a strain to mammary tumor development and the ability of its normal mammary gland receptors to bind estradici. The receptor appears to be in the parenchyma! elements of the gland. The spontaneous mammary tumor showed binding capacities significantly lower than the normal gland, based on wet weight tissue and DNA content. There is no correlation between the binding capacity of a tumor and that of the normal glands from the same strain. Spontaneous mammary tumors appeared to maintain whatever receptor binding capacity they had, when transplanted for one generation into normal or ovariectomized syngeneic hosts.

Estrogen-induced mammary fibroadenoma in a lamb: hormonal and immunohistochemical aspects

A fibroadenoma was diagnosed in the mammary gland of a lamb by immunohistochemical method andmeasurement of oestradiol hormone. The tumor was characterized by an encapsulated firm mass with acreamy-white cut surface. Histologically, it consisted of variably-sized sinus ducts, covered by a single ormultiple layers of proliferated epithelial cells, and embedded in a loose connective tissue. Immun...

Human Breast Tumorigenesis Altered Expression of Estrogen Receptor Coregulators during

The hypothesis that altered expression of specific coactivators/repressors of the estrogen receptor occurs during human breast tumorigenesis in vivo is examined in this study. Using in situ hybridization and reverse transcription-PCR assays, the expression of two coactivators (SRA and AIB1) and one repressor (REA) of the estrogen receptor was compared between matched breast tumors and adjacent ...

Cells RNAs in Normal and Neoplastic Breast Tissues and in MCF-7 Coexpression of Multiple Estrogen Receptor Variant Messenger

Mammary cancers often develop into a hormone-independent and antagonist-resistant growth phase. The molecular mechanisms of this transition are not clear. Recently, it has been proposed that estrogen receptor variants derived from alternative splicing might lead to domi nant positive transcription factors acting on estrogen response elements, even in the absence of the hormone. We show here the...

The human orphan receptor PXR messenger RNA is expressed in both normal and neoplastic breast tissue.

The expression of PXR mRNA and a variant PXR mRNA, deleted in 111 nucleotides in the ligand-binding domain, was detected by reverse transcription-PCR amplification in both normal and neoplastic human breast tissues. The level of PXR mRNA did not differ between breast tumors and their adjacent matched normal breast tissues. However, the expression of PXR mRNA did vary among breast tumors. A stat...

An endogenous inhibitor of [3H]estradiol binding to nuclear type II estrogen binding sites in normal and malignant tissues.

Previous studies from our laboratory have demonstrated that nonneoplastic tissues, such as rat uterus, contain an endogenous inhibitor of [3H]estradiol binding to nuclear type II sites. Since the stimulation of nuclear type II estrogen binding sites in the rat uterus is highly correlated with the stimulation of uterine growth and DNA synthesis, we have suggested that this inhibitor may be an en...
