Quality Assurance of Varian On-board Imager

چکیده
Accurate and repeatable setup of patients is a requisite in radiotherapy. In the treatment of head-and-neck tumors, accurate setup is particularly important because of the proximity of the treatment volume to critical structures such as the spinal cord, brainstem, and parotid glands. When intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) is used, proximity of this kind between the target and normal organs often leads to highly inhomogeneous fluence profiles with steep dose gradients. Thus, repeatable and accurate patient setup is crucial to prevent the potential hazard of encompassing critical structures for example, the spinal cord in the high-dose region. Indeed, studies have shown that improper setup in the head-and-neck region can have significant effects on tumor coverage and normal-tissue sparing (Manning et al 2001, Samuelsson et al 2003, Astreinidou et al 2005). Improvement of head-and-neck setup precision and reproducibility therefore continues to be an active field of study.

Evaluation of IsoCal geometric calibration system for Varian linacs equipped with on‐board imager and electronic portal imaging device imaging systems
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of the IsoCal geometric calibration system for kilovoltage (kV) and megavoltage (MV) imagers on Varian C-series linear accelerators (linacs). IsoCal calibration starts by imaging a phantom and collimator plate using MV images with different collimator angles, as well as MV and kV images at different gantry angles. The sof...

To investigate the effects of sagging shifts of three on-board kV imaging systems (OBI) on the isocenter positioning accuracy and image quality of cone-beam CT (CBCT). A cubical phantom having a metal marker in the center that can be aligned with the radiation isocenter was used to measure sagging shifts and their variation with gantry angle on three Varian linacs with kV on-board imaging syste...
متن کاملComparing and evaluating the efficacy of the TOR18FG Leeds test X-ray phantom for T-rays.
The commercially available X-ray fluoroscopy quality assurance phantom, the Leeds test object TOR18FG, was found to be suitable to assess T-ray image quality in the range (0.1-0.4) THz at a depth of 0.5 cm. Previous to this only custom made phantoms, made especially for the T-ray region, assessed T-ray spatial resolution. However, if sub-wavelength techniques are used, the Leeds test phantom ma...
