Protective Effect of Hesperidin against Cyclophosphamide Hepatotoxicity in Rats
نویسندگان
چکیده
The protective effect of hesperidin was investigated in rats exposed to liver injury induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of cyclophosphamide (CYP) at a dose of 150 mg kg. Hesperidin treatment (100 mg kg/day, orally) was applied for seven days, starting five days before CYP administration. Hesperidin significantly decreased the CYP-induced elevations of serum alanine aminotransferase, and hepatic malondialdehyde and myeloperoxidase activity, significantly prevented the depletion of hepatic glutathione peroxidase activity resulted from CYP administration. Also, hesperidin ameliorated the CYP-induced liver tissue injury observed by histopathological examination. In addition, hesperidin decreased the CYP-induced expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase, tumor necrosis factor-α, cyclooxygenase-2, Fas ligand, and caspase-9 in liver tissue. It was concluded that hesperidin may represent a potential candidate to protect against CYP-induced hepatotoxicity. Keywords—Cyclophosphamide, hesperidin, liver, rats.

Alleviation of Cisplatin-Induced Hepatotoxic Damage: the Synergistic Effect of Morin and Hesperidin against Oxidative Stress
Background and objectives: A key aspect of cisplatin-induced hepatotoxicity is oxidative stress. The current study was conducted to show, for the first time, the restoring and synergistic effects of morin and hesperidin against oxidative stress in hepatotoxicity. Methods: Fourty-two Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into seven groups: group A (control), ...

Introduction: Despite the extensive use of ionizing radiation in diagnosis and therapeutic procedures, development of radio-protector agents is important in modulating normal tissue damages. Hesperidin(HES) is a Flavanone glycoside, belonging to the Flavonoid family in human diet abundantly and noted for its many beneficial effects. The aim of present study was investigated to ...

The objective of the current study was to investigate the protective effects of hesperidin against oxidative stress, altered cytokines levels and histological changes in rats induced by 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD). Rats were divided randomly into four equal groups (Control, TCDD, hesperidin and TCDD+hesperidin). TCDD and hesperidin were given by gavage, dissolved in corn oil at d...

INTRODUCTION In the current study, the protective effect of hesperidin (HP) on carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatotoxicity in rats was investigated. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-eight rats were divided equally into four groups. The first group was kept as a control and given only vehicle. In the second, rats were orally administered 50 mg/kg/day HP for 10 days. Carbon tetrachloride was ...
