چکیده
Halophiles are extremophile organisms that thrive in environments with very high concentrations of salt. Halophiles are categorized as slight, moderate or extreme, based on the extent of their halotolerance. Slight halophiles prefer 0.3 to 0.8 M (1.8 to 4.7% seawater is 0.6 M or 3.5%), moderate halophiles 0.8 to 3.4 M (4.7 to 20%), and extreme halophiles 3.4 to 5.1 M (20 to 30%) NaCl. Halophiles can be found in areas where the concentration of salt is five times greater than salt concentration of the ocean, such as the Great Salt Lake in Utah, Owens Lake in California, the Dead Sea, and in evaporation ponds. (Roohiet al.,2012). They include mainly prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms with the capacity to balance the osmotic pressure of the environment and resist the denaturing effects of salts. Among halophilic microorganisms are a variety of heterotrophic and methanogenicarchaea; photosynthetic, lithotrophic, and heterotrophic bacteria; and photosynthetic and heterotrophic eukaryotes. Halophilic microorganisms have several biotechnological applications like -carotene production of fermented foods. In recent years, uses of halophilic microorganisms have significantly increased. A comparative study for air pollution tolerance index of some terrestrial plant species
Although water and land pollution are very dangerous, air pollution has its own peculiarities due to its transboundary dispersion of pollutants over the entire world. In any well planned urban set up, industrial pollution takes a back seat and vehicular emissions take precedence as the major cause of urban air pollution. In the present study, Air pollution tolerance index was calculated for var...
متن کاملScreening and isolation of halophilic bacteria producing industrially important enzymes
Halophiles are excellent sources of enzymes that are not only salt stable but also can withstand and carry out reactions efficiently under extreme conditions. The aim of the study was to isolate and study the diversity among halophilic bacteria producing enzymes of industrial value. Screening of halophiles from various saline habitats of India led to isolation of 108 halophilic bacteria produci...

متن کاملIsolation, Screening and Characterization of Hyaluronidase Producing Bacteria
Hyaluronidase has a panoramic use in biotechnology processes and therapy due to its therapeutic, pathophysiological, physiological and biological importance. Since much of the preparations of hyaluronidases are from animal source (bovine and ovine testicular sources) with limited sources of microbial origin, that prompted the authors to screen and isolate a new promising bacterial strain ...

The present study includes the collection, isolation and characterization of microorganisms from the cow dung of local varieties from different places of Dehradun, Uttrakhand, India. Four different strains of bacteria B1, B3, B4, B5 were isolated in which three are gram positive (cocci form) and one is gram-negative (bacillus form). Only one strain shows (B4) the formation of endospore. The enz...
