چکیده
Introduction: Dandy Walker Syndrome (DWS) is a congenital brain malformation characterized by hypoplasia or absence of cerebellar vermis, cystic dilatation of fourth ventricle and hydrocephalus. It is frequently associated with other congenital anomalies. Associated central nervous system anomalies such as agenesis of corpus callosum and vermis are associated with poor prognosis. Association of DWS with congenital absence of spleen is life threatening condition and has been reported very rarely. Autopsy findings of DWS with association of congenital absence of corpus callosum, vermis and spleen are reported in a stillborn fetus of 28 weeks gestation and review of relevant literature was done.

Dandy-Walker malformation is characterised by agenesis or hypoplasia of the cerebellar vermis, cystic dilatation of the fourth ventricle, and enlargement of the posterior fossa. Approximately 70-90% of patients have hydrocephalus. Lissencephaly is characterised by absence (agyria) or incomplete development (pachygyria) of the gyri of the cerebral cortex, causing the brain's surface to appear un...

A five month girl with extreme microcephaly and complex brain malformation is reported. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed bilateral thickened smooth cortex with diffuse agyria-pachygyria spectrum, agenesis of corpus callosum, bilateral hypoplastic cerebellar hemispheres and ventriculomegaly with Dandy-Walker malformation. By adding our case in the list of similar case reports by László ...
متن کاملAppearance of an interhemispheric cyst associated with agenesis of the corpus callosum.
We describe a fetus with agenesis of the corpus callosum (ACC) and Dandy-Walker malformation that developed a frontal paramidline cyst late in gestation. The interval appearance of the cyst occurred in concert with increasing size of the lateral ventricles, which supports the hypothesis that cysts associated with ACC can develop with increasing intraventricular pressure. Recognition of the pote...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this series is to describe the prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy outcome of fetuses affected with Dandy-Walker malformation in which a posterior cyst herniated through a bony defect of the occipital skull, foramen magnum, or both. METHODS Two- and 3-dimensional sonography were used to examine 2 fetuses with poorly delineated cerebellar structures and a large posterior ...
متن کاملMRI of corpus callosal syndromes.
Six patients, 6 to 13 years old, with corpus callosal abnormalities diagnosed by electroencephalography or CT were studied with a 0.15 T MR imager to determine the effectiveness of MRI in evaluating midline anomalies. Spin-echo images in the coronal, axial, and sagittal planes were obtained in two patients with Aicardi's syndrome and partial agenesis of the corpus callosum, in one patient with ...
