چکیده

Materials and methods: Stool samples from diarrheic patients admitted to Dokuz Eylül University Medical Faculty were collected on a specifi c day of the week. Stool samples sent to our laboratory from patients aff ected by a diarrhea epidemic in İzmir were also included in the study. A total of 162 stool samples were examined by microscopic and molecular methods, and the validity of the molecular method was investigated.

Prevalence and genotyping of Cryptosporidium SPP from dairy cow fecal samples in western Thailand.

The aims of this study were to determine the prevalence of Cryptosporidium spp in dairy cows in central Thailand and to investigate the genotype of Cryptosporidium spp in this population. A total of 200 fecal samples from dairy cows were collected and examined by the acid-fast staining technique and polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP). The prevalence of...

Prevalence and Molecular Identification of Cryptosporidium Spp. in Pre-Weaned Dairy Calves in Mashhad Area, Khorasan Razavi Province, Iran

BACKGROUND Cryptosporidium parvum is a zoonotic pathogen transmissible from a variety of animals to humans and is a considerable public health concern. Dairy cattle have been identified in numerous reports as a major source of environmental contamination with this pathogen. The aim of study was to detect and isolate the Cryptosporidium spp. from fecal samples of naturally infected pre-wean calv...

Genotyping of Cryptosporidium spp. in clinical samples: PCR-RFLP analysis of the TRAP-C2 gene

AIM The aim of the present study was to determine the species and genotypes of Cryptosporidium spp. among children with diarrhea by PCR-RFLP using the TRAP-C2 gene. BACKGROUND Cryptosporidium is a globally distributed protozoan parasite and one of the most common causes of infection and diarrhea in humans. PATIENTS AND METHODS Four hundred and sixty nine stool samples were collected from ch...

Evaluation of Cryptosporidium parvum genotyping techniques.

We evaluated the specificity and sensitivity of 11 previously described species differentiation and genotyping PCR protocols for detection of Cryptosporidium parasites. Genomic DNA from three species of Cryptosporidium parasites (genotype 1 and genotype 2 of C. parvum, C. muris, and C. serpentis), two Eimeria species (E. neischulzi and E. papillata), and Giardia duodenalis were used to evaluate...
