KPCA and ELM ensemble modeling of wastewater effluent quality indices
نویسندگان
چکیده
Reliable measurements of effluent quality are important for different operational tasks such as process monitoring, online simulation, and advanced control in the wastewater treatment process (WWTP). A kernel principal component analysis (KPCA) and extreme learning machine (ELM) based ensemble soft sensing model for effluent quality prediction was proposed. KPCA was used to extract nonlinear feature of input space to overcome high dimension and colinearity. ELM algorithm is inserted into the ensemble frame as a component model since ELM runs much faster and provides better generalization performance than the other popular learning algorithm. The average output of all the ELM components in the ensemble is the final estimation of the effluent quality index. Simulations results using industrial process data show that the reliability and accuracy based KPCA and ELM ensemble soft sensing outperform the ELM, ELM ensemble model. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd. Background and Objectives: Microbial quality, particularly parasitic characteristics in terms of effluent reuse in agriculture is one of the most important indices. The aim of this study is determination of removal efficiency of Kermanshah wastewater treatment(conventional activated sludge) and Gilangharb wastewater treatment plants (stabilization ponds) for cyst and parasitic eggs.Material and...
متن کاملA survey on the performance of moving bed biofilm reactor and rapid sand filter in wastewater treatment
Moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is a process in which attached growth is utilized for wastewater treatment. This process does not require sludge recycling or backwash. Activated sludge processes can be promoted to an MBBR by adding media to an aeration tank. Rapid sand filter is a physical method for the removal of total suspended solids (TSS) in advanced wastewater treatment. The purpose of ...
متن کاملEstimating the Biodegradability of Treated Sewage Samples Using Synchronous Fluorescence Spectra
Synchronous fluorescence spectra (SFS) and the first derivative spectra of the influent versus the effluent wastewater samples were compared and the use of fluorescence indices is suggested as a means to estimate the biodegradability of the effluent wastewater. Three distinct peaks were identified from the SFS of the effluent wastewater samples. Protein-like fluorescence (PLF) was reduced, wher...

Background and Aim: Water crisis in many regions of the world especially arid and semi-arid areas such as Iran, is an important obstacle for socioeconomic development and food security. Under such circumstances, wastewater reuse in agriculture can be regarded an important alternative water source. However, treated wastewater may contain some types of pathogenic microorganisms which can threaten...
متن کاملQuality assessment of treated wastewater to be reused in agriculture
In this study, the quality of a treated wastewater for agricultural and irrigation purposes was investigated. 39 quality parameters were investigated at the entrance of an effluent channel to the destination plain in monthly time intervals during a year. The aim of this study was drawing an analogy between analyses results and the latest standards in the world (nationwide and internationally), ...
