چکیده

Future electronic systems for the implementation of safety-critical applications on-board automotive vehicles will be based on distributed embedded systems. The most critical component in such systems is the communication network that connects the individual electronic modules. For reasons of costs, composability, ease of validation, and certiication the use of time-triggered communication protocols has been proposed for these kinds of systems. In this paper we present TTP SIM , a versatile simulation environment for the time-triggered protocol TTP/C. This environment is running the same protocol source code that is executed on the target hardware and thus facilitates the testing of the protocol software before the actual hardware is available. Since the target hardware is simulated these tests can be performed independently from hardware faults. Through its supports of script-driven test runs TTP SIM provides a convenient platform for regression tests in case of changes to the protocol source code and for the construction of a suite of reference test sets for protocol conformance test.

Fault Tolerance Evaluation Using Two Software Based Fault Injection Methods

A silicon independent C-Based model of the TTP/C protocol was implemented within the EU-founded project FIT. The C-based model is integrated in the C-Sim simulation environment. The main objective of this work is to verify whether the simulation model of the TTP/C protocol behaves in the presence of faults in the same way as the existing hardware prototype implementation. Thus, the experimental...

Time Triggered Protocol (TTP/C): A Safety-Critical System Protocol

This paper examines the Time Triggered Protocol (TTP), for the support of distributed real-time systems which has recently emerged from research into the commercial world, and TTP/C, a variant of TTP for safety-critical systems that is coming into use in the automotive industry. The culmination of more than 20 years of effort, TTP has been the focus of more than 100 masters level theses and 25 ...

Dose-finding designs using a novel quasi-continuous endpoint for multiple toxicities

The aim of a phase I oncology trial is to identify a dose with an acceptable safety profile. Most phase I designs use the dose-limiting toxicity, a binary endpoint, to assess the unacceptable level of toxicity. The dose-limiting toxicity might be incomplete for investigating molecularly targeted therapies as much useful toxicity information is discarded. In this work, we propose a quasi-continu...

The Modeling and Simulation of an Automotive Braking System Using the TTP/C Protocol

TTP/C, which represents one variant of the Time-Triggered Protocol (TTP), is designed to address safety-critical real-time control systems in the automotive sector. Of high interest in analyzing TTP/C, given its emphasis on “x-by-wire” environments wherein electronic control systems do not have hydraulic or mechanical back-up components, are the aspects of the TTP/C protocol and architecture wh...
