Selection of a correlated equilibrium in Markov stopping games
This paper deals with an extension of the concept of correlated strategies to Markov stopping games. The Nash equilibrium approach to solving nonzero-sum stopping games may give multiple solutions. An arbitrator can suggest to each player the decision to be applied at each stage based on a joint distribution over the players’ decisions according to some optimality criterion. This is a form of e...

We survey recent results on the existence of the value in zerosum stopping games with discrete and continuous time, and on the existence of ε-equilibria in non zero-sum games with discrete time. ∗Department of Managerial Economics and Decision Sciences, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, and the School of Mathematical Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv 69978, I...
متن کاملCan Statistical Models Out-predict Human Judgment?: Comparing Statistical Models to the NCAA Selection Committee
The NCAA selects teams for their championship tournaments using a selection committee. For the Men’s Division I NCAA Basketball Tournament the committee must factor in the results of over 5,000 regular season games, as well as other qualitative factors. One of the key summary statistics used by the committee during the process is the Rating Percentage Index (RPI). This paper evaluates the commi...

The bowl-championship-series (BCS) committee uses 10 ranking schemes, including eight computer rankings, to select college football teams for bowl-championship-series bowl games, including the national championship game. The large financial benefits of participating in BCS bowl games make it imperative that the selection process accurately select the best teams. I evaluated the performance of t...
