Constructing enterprise input-output tables - a case study of New Zealand dairy products

چکیده
We describe an efficient method for estimating enterprise input-output tables for cases when only information on marginal totals is available. In order to estimate the production structure of enterprises, we utilize engineering knowledge to construct a qualitative prior containing 1 wherever an output may require an input, and 0 otherwise. This qualitative prior is then scaled by the total enterprise turnover, and subsequently reconciled using the RASmethod in order to meet accounting rules. We demonstrate the usefulness of this method in an application to dairy product manufacturing in New Zealand, where we estimate the input-output tables for 22 production sites. Our analysis is carried out in units of mass, and hence the accounting rules are mass balance requirements.

The effect of structural changes in higher education sector on regional output (Case study: Sistan and Baluchestan Province)
Abstract The aim of this study is of the effect of structural changes in higher education on changes of output in Sistan and Baluchestan Province using structural decomposition analysis (SDA). The input-output tables of this region for the period 2006-2011 have been employed as the database of the model. The structural changes were decomposed into two factors: changes in share of specific sect...
متن کاملCross-Hauling and Regional Input-Output Tables: The Case of the Province of Hubei, China
Data for the Chinese province of Hubei are used to assess the performance of Kronenberg’s CHARM, a method that takes explicit account of cross-hauling when constructing regional input−output tables. A key determinant of cross-hauling is held to be the heterogeneity of the products of individual sectors, which is estimated using national data. However, contrary to the authors’ earlier findings f...
متن کاملApplication of Regional Input-Output Table Generated by GRIT Method for Examining Employment Generation and Importance of Housing Sector in Isfahan Province
Regional Input-output tables historical background goes back to 1950 when its idea was proposed by Walter Isard. In Iran, regional accounts generation started in the fifth development plan before the Islamic Revolution, but these accounts have been generated only for some provinces. The generation and completion of these accounts and tables on the basis of surveying and mechanical methods or a ...

متن کاملComparative Analysis of Sectoral Multipliers of Input-Output Model and Social Accounting Matrix
The present study is to indicate that the comparison between sectoral production multipliers of an input-output (I/O) model and a social accounting matrix (SAM) framework is almost impossible without taking into account accounting balances and theoretical considerations. Theoretically, the I/O model provides the Leontief’s production function, on the basis of which sectoral output multiplier ca...
