V-Book: Memoryless Editor for eBooks
نویسندگان
چکیده
User experiences with the digital systems including the Internet have created an expectation of instantaneous access to information, both whenever and wherever needed. eBooks have demonstrated their advantages in the areas of accessibility, functionality, and cost-effectiveness in different sectors like academic, industry, research, etc. Though the potential abilities of eBooks are proved in variety of aspects, several technical problems have not yet been solved in spite of the growing interest in eBooks. For example, editing of eBooks is one of the critical issues among them. Though some of the software & hardware solutions are available, the markings will either change the original file or create an edited image of the original file which may be against the Copyright and addition to that additional consumption of the memory. On the other side, the same used e-book has to be used by the other user with the markings that have been recorded earlier. From these perspectives, an enhanced solution for handling the e-book as named as V-Book (Virtual Book) is proposed in this work. V-Book is an application model, which can enable the reader to personalize eBook as what the reader usually do with paper-books. The proposed model will be helpful for the end user to make and record their marking, underlining, highlighting, even adding symbols, etc. without affecting the original document. This model will facilitate to store the personalized contents in a separate form, which will reduce the storage space requirement greatly.
