Smoothness analysis for trajectory features

چکیده
Dynamic modeling of speech is potentially a major improvement on Hidden Markov Models (HMMs). In one approach, trajectory models[1] are used to model the dynamics of the spectrum, and are used as basis for classi cation [1, 2]. Although some improvement has been achieved in this way, one would hope for more substantial improvements given that the independence assumption is removed. One reason why this was not achieved may be that the trajectory models are based on cepstral coe cients; we show that these tracks contain spurious oscillations. This suggests that these trajectory features might have a high within-class variance. We introduce a measure of evaluating the smoothness of trajectory-based features. This measure provides a method of selecting the best of a set of similar features. Formant trajectories prove to be signi cantly smoother than trajectories of mel scale cepstral coe cients (MFCC) by this measure, but this does not translate directly to improved performance.

Trajectory Planning Using High Order Polynomials under Acceleration Constraint
The trajectory planning, which is known as a movement from starting to end point by satisfying the constraints along the path is an essential part of robot motion planning. A common way to create trajectories is to deal with polynomials which have independent coefficients. This paper presents a trajectory formulation as well as a procedure to arrange the suitable trajectories for applications. ...
متن کاملExamination of human trajectory planning criterion based on signal-dependent noise
Two types of criterion, the minimization criterion based on smoothness and the minimization criterion based on signal-dependent noise, have been proposed to explain several universal features in human arm movement. In this paper, we investigated whether the minimum variance criterion is considered in human trajectory planning. Our results suggest that the minimum variance criterion based on sig...

متن کاملNatural Heuristic Dynamic Programming for Dynamic Systems
Heuristic Dynamic Programming (HDP) is the simplest kind of Adaptive Critic 1]. It can be used to maximize or minimize any utility function, such as total energy or trajectory error, of a system over time in a noisy environment. In this article, we propose a new version of HDP, called NHDP (Natural Heuristic Dynamic Programming). This new version incorporates basic HDP algorithm with the follow...
متن کاملVoice Analysis in English and Persian Persuasive Texts: Pedagogical implications in focus
The main purpose of this study is to investigate how voice is realized by Iranian EFL learners in persuasive English and Persian text types. This discourse-related notion is a required criterion for writing acceptable English. However, L2 learners from cultures other than English might face problems in realizing it, or even ignore it all through their writing. In this connection, the present st...
