Metric Semantics for True Concurrent Real Time

چکیده
This paper investigates the use of a complete metric space framework for providing denotational semantics to a real-time process algebra. The study is carried out in a non-interleaving setting and is based on a timed extension of Langerak's bundle event structures, a variant of Winskel's event structures. The distance function of the metric is based on the amount of time to which event structures dòagree'. We show that this intuitive notion of distance is a pseudo metric (but not a metric) on the set of timed event structures. A generalisation to equivalence classes of timed event structures in which we abstract from event identities and non-executable events (events that can never occur) is shown to be a complete ultra-metric space. We present an operational semantics for the considered language and show that the metric semantics is an abstraction of it. The operational semantics is characterised by the absence of synchronisation on the advance of time as opposed to the operational semantics of most real-time calculi. The consistency between our metric and an existing cpo-based denotational semantics is brieey investigated.

Improved Real-Time RT-PCR Assays of Two Colorectal Cancer Peripheral Blood mRNA Biomarkers: A Pilot Study
Background: Efficient screening for detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) at earlier stages reduces its mortality. The purpose of this study was to investigate expression of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) mRNA in peripheral blood of CRC patients and to present strategies for early detection screen test. Methods: Twenty seven patients in non-meta...
متن کاملTime Petri Nets with Action Duration: A True Concurrency Real-Time Model
The design of real-time systems needs a high-level specification model supporting at the same time timing constraints and actions duration. The authors introduce in this paper an extension of Petri Nets called Time Petri Nets with Action Duration (DTPN) where time is associated with transitions. In DTPN, the firing of transitions is bound to a time interval and transitions represent actions whi...
متن کاملModeling Timed Concurrent Systems using Generalized Ultrametrics
Timed concurrent systems are used in concurrent and distributed real-time software, modeling of hybrid systems, design of hardware systems (using hardware description languages), discrete-event simulation, and modeling of communication networks. They consist of concurrent components that communicate using timed signals, which are sets of (semantically) time-stamped events. The denotational sema...
متن کاملConcurrent semantics for structured design methods
Design methods can be ambiguous due to diierent i n terpretations of symbols or concepts. This paper presents a formal semantics for the Ward/Mellor Structured Analysis Method for Real Time systems. These semantics ensures that an unambiguous meaning can be attributed to a particular design. Speciically, it ensures that concurrent and real-time properties of the design can be captured and analy...
