چکیده

Background: Sentinel lymph node biopsy in early breast cancer performed by intraparenchymal or intradermal injection of blue dye and/or radioactive colloid remains a highly acceptable method of identifying sentinel nodes largely because of its success rate. Aim: 1. To assess the efficacy of sentinel lymph node biopsy in detecting axillary metastases in cases of node negative early breast cancer. Material and Method: The study material consisted of 109 women with early breast cancer in stage T1/T2N0M0 who underwent modified radical mastectomy along with sentinel lymph node biopsy after subareolar injection of methylene blue dye at Dept. of General Surgery, SVRR Govt. General Hospital, Tirupati (AP). Results: This study showed that this simplified technique of identifying the sentinel nodes has sufficiently high identification rate.

The need for skin pen marking for sentinel lymph node biopsy: A comparative study

Introduction: There is a consensus in the literature that sentinel lymph node biopsy is the standard procedure for axillary staging in early stage (I and II) breast cancer patients. Usually during lymphoscintigraphy, the location of the sentinel lymph node is marked on the skin by an indelible ink. In this study we evaluated this issue in our patients. Methods: 40 ...

Inappropriate cervical injection of radiotracer for sentinel node mapping in a uterine cervix cancer patient: importance of lymphoscintigraphy and blue dye injection

Herein, we report a case of sentinel lymph node mapping in a uterine cervix cancer patient, referring to the nuclear medicine department of our institute. Lymphoscintigraphy images showed inappropriate intra‐cervical injection of radiotracer. Blue dye technique was applied for sentinel lymph node mapping, using intra‐cervical injection of methylene blue. Two blue/cold sentinel lymph nodes, with...

Sentinel lymph node biopsy using dye alone method is reliable and accurate even after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy in locally advanced breast cancer - a prospective study

BACKGROUND Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is now considered a standard of care in early breast cancers with N0 axillae; however, its role in locally advanced breast cancer (LABC) after neo-adjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is still being debated. The present study assessed the feasibility, efficacy and accuracy of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) using "dye alone" (methylene blue) method in pati...
