چکیده

Clotting Factor VII activity emerges as a highly significant predictive factor for development of cardiovascular disease (CVD) In prospective trials. We have previously shown that In hypertriglyceridemlc Individuals a fraction of their clotting Factor VII molecules is present in an activated state In phosphollpase C-sensitive complexes in plasma. These complexes may explain the increased Factor VII activity observed to be a predictive factor for CVD. We demonstrate here that the level of such complexes is amenable to dietary intervention and that the alteration In Factor VII complex levels correlates closely with the corresponding alteration In triglycerldes. EFFECT OF AEROBIC TRAINING AND ETHANOL CONSUMPTION ON LIPID PROFILE AND GENE EXPRESSION OF SOME GASTROCNEMIUS MUSCLE MYOKINES IN MALE RATS

Background: Skeletal muscle as an endocrine tissue is involved in the regulation of metabolic activity, production and secretion of hormones including myokines. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training combined with ethanol consumption on plasma lipid profile and glucose levels, triglyceride content and mayonectin, irisin and leptin gene expr...

Plasma lipoproteins in normal and preeclamptic pregnant women

Background: Preeclampsia is one of the most common complications of pregnancy. It is the cause of high morbidity and mortality for mothers and fetuses, especially in developing countries. The etiology of preeclampsia is unknown. One of the hypothesis on pathophysiology of preeclampsia is dyslipidemia. The aim of this study was to determine maternal plasma levels of lipoproteins in patients with...

Effect of Vanadyl Sulfate on Fructose-Induced Insulin Resistance Rat

Insulin resistance syndrome, also referred to as the metabolic syndrome or syndrome X, refers to a constellation of common metabolic and cardiovascular disorders (e.g. obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and dyslipidemia), which are all cardiovascular risk factors. Insulin resistance can be induced by fructose-rich diet in rats. We investigated the effect of vanadyl sulfate (0.2 mg...

Aberrant effect of genistein on placenta development expressed through alteration in transforming growth factor-β1 and alkaline phosphatase across the maternal serum, the placenta and the amniotic fluid

Objective(s): The mechanism via which genistein, the major isoflavone content of soya, adversely influenced placenta and fetal development was evaluated in pregnant laboratory rats.Materials and Methods: There were control, 2 mg/kg and 4 mg/kg genistein groups of rats with five sub-groups based on gestation termination day. At the end of...
